Draco's POV
"Y/n, don't do this again," I plead, kneeling in front of Y/n on the floor, she sits on her bed staring down. "Just talk to me, please."
"I told you everything already," she lies, staring at her nails and picking them.
"If there's something you can't tell me then go see Professor Scamander, it's what he's there for you know."
"I know." she whispers, "I have been seeing him,"
"It's been months since it happened, Y/n, I'm still hurting about him being gone, I think about it every day, but, as awful as it may sound...he's gone and there's nothing we can do. He wouldn't want you to dwell in this forever, you know he wouldn't."
"I just don't want to believe that this is my life now." she looks up at me, pain gleaming in her e/c eyes.
"I know, darling," I rub my hand up and down her thigh, "It's difficult, but you'll make it through. You're strong, I know you are."
"I'm not that strong," she mumbles, looking down again, I take her face in my hands.
"Hey, look at me. You are that strong. And we're all here to help each other get through this, we can all do it together, like the team we formed last year, but this time we're...working to heal, instead of..." she nods, understanding my unspoken words.
"There's this little girl, a first year, she keeps asking me whether I know or not when the war will end...I keep telling her 'soon' but...I don't know. I can't tell her that I don't know because if I were that age in these times then I know I would want to be able to go to someone older and have them tell me that it's gonna be over soon...that person for me would have been Mattheo...but for her...it's me."
"She's very lucky then."
"I kind of feel like I need to be there for her...like there's some sort of connection, I feel...protective of her, like I need to shield her from all the evil in the world, and if I fail at that, then..."
"It's alright. It makes sense that you want to keep her safe and protected, thinking back on all the difficulties you've gone through...working to ensure she doesn't have to go through that seems like something you'd do."
"It's scary having someone look up to me," she whispers, "I don't want to let her down."
"I know, it must be scary, especially not knowing yourself when this war will end. But like I said; she's lucky to at least have you." she nods and leans down, pressing her lips softly against mine, and pulling away soon after.
"Thank you,"

"You haven't thought about what you would like to do with your future at all?" Snape questions me in his cold office, lit, like the rest of the castle, by green candles and torches.
"Not really..." I tell him numbly. "I kind of want to get a muggle job. Maybe I'll end up with my own café...who knows. It's not like I'll have to worry much anyways."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean with this whole war I know my father will want Kayden and I at his house while we aren't at Hogwarts, even after Hogwarts he wants us living with him in the States...to be safe. So after Hogwarts I'll probably get a muggle job in Florida. The beaches there are nice, maybe I'll be a lifeguard."
Snape sighs and ponders for a moment.
"You excel in Potions, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures. You are also quite skilled in Transfiguration and Charms. You have many job opportunities in the wizarding world...and you would like to be a lifeguard in the States?"
