Y/n's POV

"I talked to Pansy," Kayden tells me in his dorm. "After she snapped at you like that several days ago. She regrets what she said. She was in a bad mood because we had had an argument. But that wasn't all. Her parents...they abandoned her. After she told them that she was staying for Easter break, they disowned her. They said she had to choose between family and us; she chose us. But the blow of her family actually choosing to just rid themselves of her...it hit her hard and she wasn't thinking right at all."

I process his words and blink a few times.

"Oh, my god..." I whisper, "I knew something was up. I knew she would never say that if she were in her right mind. I...I feel awful for the things I said." I bury my face in my palms.

"So does she. But it's alright, you two just need to talk it out." I nod. "Let's talk about something else?"

"Tell me what's up with you and Weasley?" his cheeks glow redder than Ginny's hair.

After having a long talk with Pansy as we went for a walk around the grounds, our friendship feels rekindled. She told me that she did choose her family; she said that we are her real family.

We talked about everything and just caught up. It was nice.

Easter break is now nearly over, and things are bad. Our dada classes are awful, today we were forced to practice the killing curse on creatures Amycus Carrow captured from the forest. Some of the creatures included Nifflers, to which I nearly broke down as I refused to kill such an innocent and adorable creature.

Right now, in my dorm as I nurture a few baby Nifflers a managed to save from class, I sniff tearfully watching the small animals limp around on my desk.

"What do you guys eat?" I rhetorically ask and stand up, grabbing my care of magical creatures textbook and flipping to the chapter on Nifflers. "Weeds and shrubs..." I set the book down and look at the three black soft creatures on my desk. "I'll be right back," I tell them, doubting that they understand a word I'm saying.

As I get up, one of them, the smallest one, jumps onto my arm and clings to my watch.

"Fine, you can come." the Niffler being rather small, it fits in the inner pocket of my robe and curls up.

I exit my dorm, only to be met by Leo.

"oh, hey." I straighten up, "What's up?"

"Nothing, just thought I'd see you, what are you doing?"

"Uhm...drugs?" I mentally facepalm when he furrowed his eyebrows together.

"No seriously,"

"Fine." I give in, "I smuggled three Nifflers from dada today, I would have taken more but...my pockets can only fit so much. I'm going outside to find some shrubs they can eat."

"You stole nifflers?"

"More like rescued them." I tell him, "I was not gonna let those Carrow twins just...kill those poor little creatures, it isn't right, even if they are just animals."

"I agree with you. And I want to help you,"

"Okay," I sigh, "Come on,"

"Aw, aren't these the cutest little things?" Leo goes soft for the nifflers snuggled up in an emptied out drawer in my dresser with blankets on the bottom and some shrubs we picked for them on a dish that they nearly devoured in a minute.

"They are, I wish I could have gotten more."

"Hey, you did more than enough to help them. Now, what should we name them?"
