TW: Child abuse
Y/n's POV
My stomach churned as the realization of what day it is hit me.
Not only is it the last day of break, but also the day of the dreaded Death Eater meeting.
I sighed and took a final drink from my tea cup, leaving nothing but the saturated tea leaves left. It's about eleven pm and our mother will be here any time now.
Kayden and I sat silently at the table, both dressed for the meeting -me in a short black dress and tights, Kayden in a black suit- our father paced the living room. Stressed? Nervous? He doesn't like that Estella will be taking us again, but technically she has as much custody of us as he does, so he can't stop her.
"Dad, it's gonna be fine. It's not like we'll get hurt." I comforted our father with lies. Honestly, with our mother, safety is never promised.
"I know, I know. I don't know why I'm freaking out like this." He ran his hand through his hair.
I jumped slightly at the long-awaited sound of the door bell. Kayden and I instinctively stood up and our father walked to the door, opening it to reveal our mother.
"Estella." He greeted with a hard voice.
"Oliver." My mothers light, feathery voice sounded nothing like her wicked personality. "Kayden, Y/n, it's great to see you again." She went to hug us, Kayden allowed a hug, but I stayed still as a statue, and she took this as me not wanting her touching me at all, which was right.
"Alright, we'll be leaving now, Oliver, they are going to be taken to the train tomorrow morning. No need to worry."
"Very well then." He turned to us, hugging us at the same time, very tightly. "I love you guys." he whispered, we whispered it back to him.
"We'll see you..." I hesitated, not knowing when we'll see him next. "Soon." He nodded.
Kayden and I grabbed our mothers hands and she apparated us all the way across the ocean, through England, to Yorkshire, it didn't stop until we reached the entrance to the Malfoy Manor.
The gargoyle recognized our mothers face and the tall gates opened, we all silently walked down the dark pathway, tall hedges on each side.
My heart beat sped up as we walked closer and I reached for Kayden's hand, he took mine in his and held onto it, sharing my fears.
I kept an unfazed mask over my fear, not daring to let even one ray of my terror shine through.
We arrived at the door and she reached for the snake handle and opened it, the three of us walked into the beautiful, gothic manor. I thought it was deserted at first, but then, from around the corner, Narcissa appeared, helping to make a tiny fraction of my fear leave my body.
"You're all just in time, the meeting starts in ten minutes." she informed us. "It's lovely to see you guys," she hugged Kayden and I. My mother didn't seem to like how I hugged Narcissa but not her.
Narcissa lead Kayden and I to the living room where I saw Max, Mattheo, Pansy, and Draco all waiting for the meeting to start. Draco and I locked eyes for a moment, he looked paler than usual, there was some purple shading under his eyes, but he was putting on the same front as the rest of us.
"Y/n, Kayden, hi." Mattheo stood up and hugged us both tightly. Then he whispered, "I'm sorry I wasn't able to go to Florida after Christmas, something...something came up." he turned and looked at Max, who was quietly talking with Pansy.
"It's alright, we understand." I whispered. I hugged Max and Pansy, and, once again, Draco and I made eye contact, but I was the first to look away. The only spot left to sit at in the living room was next to Draco. I decided not to make it awkward and just sit by him without a word.
