CHAPTER 25: Heart Speaks Louder Than Voice

Jastine slowly opened his eyes kaya sabay kaming napatayo ni Lloren. Lloren run towards him and check him. "Are you feeling alright now Jastine?" she asked while holding his face. "Where's Angel?" tanong niya and Lloren slowly take her hand away from Jastine's face. "Why do you bother asking about her? Can't you see, she's the reason why you're lying here in the hospital bed" I walk towards Lloren and said, "Okay, that's okay for now Lloren. Angel is fine, she's resting at the other room—.." I didn't finish speaking ng nagpumilit na bumangon si Jastine and he cried a bit dahil sa sobrang sakit ng kaniyang katawan.

"Stop it Jastine. Are you crazy?" I signaled Lloren to stop and good thing she stop talking to Jastine. Alam kong nag-alala lang si Jastine sa kaniya kaya he's overreacting. "Angel is okay Jastine. She's resting now at tsaka Ken and Josh are watching her so you don't need to worry about her" I explained and it convince Jastine to stay in bed. Nagbuntong hininga si Lloren at umupo sa couch. Kumalma si Jastine kaya agad akong lumabas sa silid at tumawag ng doctor. After calling a doctor, pumunta ako sa silid ni Angel and I informed Ken and Josh that Jastine is already awake. "Gising na si Jastine. You can guys go and check him out, ako muna magbabantay kay Angel" I said to them. "Thanks Paulo" said Ken and sabay na silang lumabas sa silid.

Umupo ako sa upuan malapit sa kama ni Angel. She is sleeping peacefully. It's been 12 hours and si Jastine pa lang ang nagigising and I started to get worry about her. Yumuko ako papalapit sa kaniyang mukha and started to touch her when her eyes started to open. Nagulat kaming dalawa kaya agad akong napatayo. "You're awake" I said abruptly. She slowly sit down kaya agad akong lumabas at tinawag ang nurse na dumaan sa hallway. The nurse go directly inside and check Angel. "Her vitals are normal. She's okay now" sabi ng nurse sabay kuha ng phone niya and dialed someone. "Hello doc, patient in Room 312 is already awake" ibinaba niya ang phone niya at agad na nagsalita. "The doctor will be coming over, maghintay lang kayo sa kaniya" she smiled kaya agad akong nagpasalamat. "Maraming salamat" lumabas na ang nurse kaya agad akong lumapit kay Angel na kasalukuyang nakatingin sa monitor.

"Are you okay Angel? May masakit ba sa katawan mo?" she slowly turned her head towards me and softly said, "May napapaginipan ako kagabi Paulo". She slowly stood up kaya hinawakan ko siya sa kamay. "You should stay in your bed for now--" but she continue to move. Lumapit siya sa bintana and she slide the window open. She raised her hand in the air and after some minutes ibinaba niya ito. "Totoo pala ang nangyari sa akin kagabi. Hindi iyon panaginip" she said. Bumukas ang pintuan ng silid at pumasok ang doctor. "Please lie in bed for now, I need to check you up" sabi ng doctor at Mabuti naman at sumunod kaagad si Angel. The doctor did physical examinations and even check her laboratory results and after that, humarap siya sa akin at nagsalita. "Are your her guardian?" the doctor asked. "I am her friend, and for now she's with me" sagot ko. Tumango ang doctor at nagpatuloy sa pagsasalita, "She's totally fine, nothing to worry about. Maybe naging unconscious siya because of an extreme shock, she will be fine after several rest" he said while smiling at both of us. "Okay doc, thank you so much for your work" I replied and then he signaled that he will go outside.

Bumukas ulit ang pintuan and I saw Jastine rushing over the room. Ken and Josh are holding his dextrose at si Lloren naman ay nakasunod lang kay Jastine habang pilit itong pinipigilan. "Jastine.." sabi ko sabay tayo and he didn't even bother to look at me. Nakatingin lang siya ng diretso kay Angel. Kahit na nahihirapan na lumakad dahil sa kaniyang malaking sugat sa binti, he struggled to get closer to Angel. He check Angel from her head to her arms until to her feet. "Are you okay?" he asked while caressing Angel's face. Nakatingin lang kaming lahat sa kaniya. He's too worried about Angel when he's struggling with his physical injury. "Okay lang ako Jastine" sagot ni Angel habang nakatingin sa sugat ni Jastine sa binti at paa.

No matter how much they denied that they don't care about each other, kami, nakikita namin. Jastine cares a lot about Angel and Angel, she's sacrificing a lot for Jastine. At this point, nakaramdam ako ng kirot sa aking puso. Yes, I admit it. I started to like Angel, I mean, I like her from the first moment that I saw her. Masaya siya kasama, she's very pure and ang gaan gaan ng pakiramdam ko kapag kasama ko si Angel. I wanted to protect her, to be with her, and to do everything to make her happy. My parents are always busy about our business and I grew up witnessing all of their fights and with that, hatred started to build up inside me. I am someone that is highly to be praised in school but they don't know how messed up my life is. I never smiled genuinely before until I met her. She always smiles everytime I see her, parang lumiliwanag ang buong paligid dahil sa mga ngiti niya.

Nagising ang diwa ko ng hinawakan ako ni Josh sa balikat. "Please convince Jastine to go back to his room" Josh said habang nakanguso kay Jastine na kasalukuyang tanong ng tanong kay Angel. I nodded as a response at lumapit sa dalawa. Hinawakan ko sa balikat si Jastine at nagsalita, "I think it is best if you should take a rest first Jastine. Angel is fine and we will be here for her" convincing him to go back to his room. "Okay lang ako Jastine kaya bumalik ka na sa iyong silid at magpahinga" Angel said while smiling at him genuinely. Jastine listened to Angel at tumayo ito, nagpaalam kay Angel at nagbilin ng mga dapat niyang kainin at gawin bago pa tuluyang lumabas ng silid. Inaalalayan ni Ken at Josh si Jastine pabalik sa kaniyang room at ako nagpaiwan lang ako sa tabi ni Angel.

Umupo ulit ako sa upuan and to break the silence I started to talk, "I know what happened to you and Jastine gave you an extreme shock, but don't worry you will be okay and --" napatigil ako sa pagsasalita ng mapansin si Angel na nakatingin ng diretso sa aking likuran. Napalingon ako sa likod pero wala akong makikita na kung sinuman o anumang bagay ang maaari niyang tanawin. "Is there something on my face?" I asked her kaya napatingin siya sa akin. "Ah, wala Paulo. Pasensiya kana" she said while still composing herself. There's something wrong with Angel, I can totally sense it.

"Baka gusto mo muna magpahinga? Aalis muna ako so that you can take a rest and I will be back later" sabi ko dahil napapansin ko na napakatamlay ni Angel as if she's not feeling well. "Maraming salamat Paulo, siguro kailangan ko ng pahinga" sabat niya kaya inalalayan ko kaagad siya na humiga sa kama at inayos ang kumot niya. "If you need something, just call me. Iiwan ko lang ang extra phone ko dito sa mesa" tumango si Angel kaya agad kong inilapag sa mesa ang phone ko at lumabas muna sa silid to give time for her. I think she is still processing the events that happened to her at kay Jastine and I know na nasaktan siya dahil sa confession ni Lloren kay Jastine bago paman nangyari ang aksidente. It made her cry. Sumilip lang ako sa maliit na glass window sa pintuan ng kaniyang silid.

I hope I can do something to make you happy. To the point that you can no longer feel the burden and cry.
