BRETT'S POV
A week later...
I looked at Y/N, peacefully sleeping next to me as I played with her hair. It's a sunny day here in Brisbane, no more rains and cold breeze. I sat up straight and grabbed her coffee from the bedside table; the sound of the beeping noise from the monitor is slowly driving me insane and I'm dying to leave this place.
Then, I heard Y/N groaning, slowly opening her eyes and rubbing it. "Coffee?" I handed it to her, "Brett? You're awake." She glanced at me and took the coffee from my hands. I sighed, thinking about the stuff that happened; from good to normal, from normal to worst. I was thinking what will happen to me after this.
"Hello, earth to Brett?" She snapped her fingers in front of me, realizing I was drowned in my thoughts, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that. What did you say?" I asked, biting my lower lip, "I said you're getting discharged today, which is very relieving for you." I grinned and exhaled in relief. Finally, I can leave this place.
A soft knock escaped from the door, making us freeze for a moment. "Ms. L/N, someone is looking for you at the reception. They said it's important." She panned to me, stuttering, "I-I'll be right back, okay?" Y/N stood up and walked away. I stared at the busy streets of Brisbane, waiting for Y/N to come back. I'm glad that I'll be discharged today.
"Hey." Y/N entered the room and sat closer to me, "The local police said that Eddy wants to talk to you today. Alone. I don't know why but... I'm really worried." I felt her hands holding onto me, "I'll be fine. I promise. It's just a little talk, that's all." I stared deeply into her eyes, assuring her that I'll be okay. "Alright. Call me when you need anything."
My parents entered the room, packing my things and other stuff. The doctors and nurses slowly removed the stubborn wires from my body as I helped my parents put back my things in my bag. "By the way, Eddy wanted to talk to me today. If you don't mind, can you drop me off at the police station, mom?" "Why? What's his concern? I have a bad feeling about this." She sighed, "Poor Eddy. What has happened to him."
"I'll be fine. It's just a little chat. Then, we can have boba when I get home." I stared at her, I can tell that mom is very hesitant about this, "We'll come with you." She stepped forward, "Eddy said he wants to chat in private. I promise, I'll be okay." I slowly nodded for her assurance; mom let out a little sigh, "Alright. Just call us when you need anything, okay?" I leaned forward as mom left little kisses on my forehead.
"Yup, that's everything." Dad wiped off his sweat from his forehead and carried my bags to the parking lot. I gently held Y/N's hands as we left the room. Now I'm wondering, what does he want? I, myself, am worried that something will happen in our little chat. But maybe my questions will be answered today.

"Thank you, dad. I'll be back right after this, don't worry." I left the car and took a deep breath. Everytime I meet Eddy, everything flashes back; the trauma, the pain. Everything was crushed when the incident happened. I don't think I'm ready to face him again but I want answers. An honest answer.
I entered inside the building as I was greeted by the deputy, "You must be Brett Yang." I stuttered and just nodded awkwardly, "Come follow me." I nodded again. I started to panic, struggling to breathe. This is a bad idea. "Take a seat." I shivered in anger and fear. "Go get Chen. He's here." I overheard the deputy from the other room.
I cleared my throat and fiddled my fingers. A loud noise coming from the padlocks echoed surrounded the room and saw Eddy come inside with handcuffs. Then, a long silence. I wish not to talk to him but I need to know more. "You have 20 minutes." The deputy whispered and left the room.
"Hi."
"Hm? Oh, hello." I replied.
"You might be wondering why I wanted to talk to you." Eddy bit his lip and sighed, "Yes and I want you to be honest with me. Please." I looked at him in anger, "I just don't understand why you're doing all of this. I thought we're friends—I mean, best friends! After all of the things Brent did..." I tried not to cry in front of him.
"I-I'm sorry, Brett. I'm sorry for ruining everything—"
"Are you sorry because you are? Or are you sorry because you are caught? Let's be real here, Eddy. You are a jerk. My dreams were crushed just because of your goddamn narcissism. We're supposed to chase our dreams together, isn't that what you wanted?!" My lips quivered; I tried to calm down.
Eddy sat still, no other emotion except guilt. "I'll tell you. You deserve to know everything." He cleared his throat. "I want you to be honest with me, Eddy. No made up stories, just pure honesty. And you're right, I deserve to know everything. How our friendship turned into this madness."
"Okay. I'll tell you everything."
