BRETT'S POV

There she is, Y/N. Patiently waiting for Zach outside the building. I tried to pass behind her without noticing.

"Brett?" I stopped and froze, "What do you want?" I replied, not looking back at her. "H-Have you read the letter I gave you yesterday?" Her soft voice escaped from her mouth. "Tsk, at the coffee shop, after the lesson. Of course, I read it."

"Right, I'm sorry for asking." Y/N apologized as I let out a sharp exhale, "Hey, Y/N." I turned around, "Yes?" She looked me in the eyes, "Thank you." I walked away leaving her speechless.

I entered the room where my classmates were tuning their instruments. I sat down on my chair, also tuning my violin, getting ready for my lesson. Then, I see Y/N and Zach enter the room. Smiling at each other.

"Alright everybody, I have an announcement." The professor entered the room and for the first time, he's not late. "There's an upcoming violin competition next year," My eyes widened, if the teacher picks me, how will I be able to play the violin?

I lost my interest in playing and performing. Everybody faced me, I suddenly remembered my first competition. Winning and traveling around the world. But I remembered someone, "What do you think, Brett?"

I shook my head, snapping back to reality, "Even if you're gonna give me a million dollars, I'm not gonna do it." I rolled my eyes, "Come on, Brett. Don't just turn down the competition! It's the one and only International Tchaikovsky Competition!" I hear her from the other side of the room.

I looked at Y/N, not even a pinch of motivation was applied to me, "If I say no, it's a no. Understood?" I replied casually, my whole classmates remained silent.

"Enough," Our teacher scolded as he looked at me, "It's Brett's decision. We must respect that." Finally, someone who understands. I look back at Y/N, she's very disappointed. I don't care, it's my decision.

I'm still not paying attention to my classes. I know, the money's a waste, right? Everybody played Canon in D, they're out of tune except for one. Y/N. Wow, I can be a violin teacher then make my students play Paganini.

I smirked at myself, "That sounded great, Y/N!" Our professor complimented, I faced her as she grinned. "Zach really did help you." I scoffed, "N-No, professor. It was Brett who helped me."

'Ooh's' filled the classroom as everybody looked at me. I gulped as my forehead creased. I didn't expect Y/N to say that. "Keep it up, Y/N!" Our teacher cheered, smiling at me. I turned around as if nothing happened.

Few lessons later, the professor gave us a break. I walked out of the building as usual, "Brett!" I know it's Y/N again, I stopped walking to keep her up to me, "Hey, wanna have snacks together?"

She looked up to me, offering me a paper bag with some burgers, fries, and hot cocoa. "Mmm-kay, fine." I raised my eyebrows and continued to walk, "Where are you going?" She tried to keep up with her tiny legs walking faster.

"To the park, duh." I rolled my eyes and took a sharp turn to the park. "Okay, but why?" She gave me a half-smile as I stopped walking, looking at her deeply in the eyes.

"Why can't you stop talking and asking questions?" I snapped back and walked again where I usually stay. I sat under the shade of the tree on the grass as she followed, eating her snacks. "Why aren't you with Zach?" I asked.

"We got into a heated argument a while ago," She sighed, "You're probably right. He's a jerk. I'm over him. He's probably jealous of you." I stopped chewing my fries.

"You and Zach are arguing just because he's jealous of me?" I furrowed my eyebrows, squinting my eyes, "He told me he'll no longer teach me the violin." She looked at me, her eyes lit up, "You can be my new violin teacher!" "Wait, no—" "Yes, Brett." No, no, no. I closed my eyes.

Then, I felt Y/N hugging me. Everything stopped for a moment. Here it is again, Pink. I can see my own aura. It's pink. Love? I pushed her away as I smirked.

"Stop it." I chuckled, she gasped as I looked at her quizzically, "What?" Her eyes sparkled like stars, "Did you just chuckle?!" I looked down shyly, "Am I not allowed to chuckle?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"Again with your cold attitude." She crossed her arms, "So, about the lessons, I'll meet you at your place on Saturday!" She smiled at me, "A-At MY place?" I raised my voice.

I can't believe this. "I didn't even agree but okay. I'll be your professor." I sighed deeply, this is gonna be exhausting. "Yay! Thanks, Brett. My new friend." I gagged. "I don't even have friends."

"I can be your friend, Brett." Y/N looked at me, then the alarm clock went off. "Class will be starting in 2 minutes." She stood up from the grass, "Aren't you coming?" She glanced at the studio a few blocks away.

"Let me be. Go away, shoo!" I gestured her to get away as she laughed, making me chuckle again. "Damn you, Brett. I'll see you at the coffee shop. See you!" She quickly ran, going back to the studio.

I looked at the skies, I think she's the one who can bring me back. To bring back my happy self and I'm confident about it. I can see colors, I can feel something, like a normal human. After all this time, I found the one. The one that will help me.

And I thank her for that. For making me feel again. Those colors I never saw since my brother died are back. Y/N, you never fail to amaze me. Your kindness, honesty, and your beautiful personality makes me happy.

Definitely not in love.
