Chapter 11: Last-Minute Rushing

Three days later... In the Gym

Briar, Ace, Deuce, Grim, Kalim, and Jamil have been practicing the dance routine for the audition. Of course, there are others who are trying out for the audition as well.

"I've been seeing a lotta dudes rehearsing the audition number in the gym over lunch break," Ace says.

"Those chumps better not be after the prize. Nobody takes my tuna!" Grim says

"I suspect more of them are after a potential pro debut than prize money," Jamil says.

"Well, it just shows that we'll have some competition in the audition itself," Briar says.

Then Deuce says, "Now that you mention it, they do all seem like they're in their element."

Don't let them intimidate you. You've also made great strides with your singing ability," Jamil says, "It's a far cry from when you started out sounding like a panicked elephant."

"Mm-hm! You've also gotten better at holding a note," Kalim training isn't easy, and you put in the work. You all deserve a pat on the back. Now, let's get back to it. Today we'll focus on doing the whole song from start to finish!"

"Yes, sir!" Briar and the boys reply

Then Briar calls out to the others, "You can start the music."

"Got it," Jasper calls out.

He, Tanzanite, Sereia, and Trinket are sitting on the bleachers. Then Jasper turns on the music.

Jamil turns to the others and says, "Now, let's see how far you've come. Try to follow me and Kalim as much as you can.

"Don't you dare mess up today, Deucey-boy," Ace says in remark.

"Ace," Briar calmly scolds.

But Deuce says, "I know. I'll show them everything I've learned!"

"There you go getting all serious again. You gotta loosen up and have fun!" Kalim says.

"It's okay Deuce, just remember to do your best, alright," Briar says.

"Alright," Deuce says.

"Then let's take the routine from the beginning and work our way to the end," Jamil says.

With that, the group begins to perform the routine along with the music. Of course, this time, they also work on their singing as they dance the routine. It's easy to show that Jamil and Kalim are really good at dancing. Ace and Briar are doing fine as well, even Grim. Deuce is also doing better in the past few days.

Kalim happily says, "Wow! You guys have really improved. Nice!" Then he has an idea, "Hey, I know. Why not try adding in something like this, too?" and performs a little dance himself.

"Wow. That was really good, Kalim," Briar says.

"Whoa! How did you do that?!" Deuce asks, surprised

"You just hit the floor with your hand like 'bam!' and raise your feet up. Easy!" Kalim says.

Unsure, Ace says, "Uh, I think we're gonna need something a little more concrete than that."

"Let's just continue the routine and think about it," Briar says.

And with that, the group continues with their practice of the singing and dancing routine, and are doing better.

Once they're done, Grim happily says, "Woohoo! We got the final pose down pat!"

"How did we do, Jamil?" Deuce asks.

"Well, you kept up with the music. Not bad. You've done well in such a short amount of time. Congratulations," Jamil answers.
