Chapter 56: Invitation Gratitude

Sometime later, in the Exterior Hallway, Riddle, Trey, Briar, and the others meet up with Cater and Lilia.

Cater happily says, "Hey, Trey! Hey, Riddle! What's the haps? I saw a group of guys wearing your collars earlier. You sure aren't wasting any time!"

"More like the troublemakers aren't wasting any time," Trey replies.

Then asks, "Are you and Lilia about to make your Pop Music Club presentation?"

"Yes. It's a far cry from the glamour of the SDC, but the Pop Music Club is throwing a concert of its own, and we'll be in it," Lilia says.

"Trey gets snapped up by Riddle, and Kalim gets snapped up by Vil..." Cater says, "Cay-Cay's all left out!"

"'Snapped up'? I've told you before that I'm terrible at dancing and singing," Trey says.

Lilia asks, "What's the matter, Cater? Am I not sufficient company for you?"

"Oh, far from it!" Cater says, "I know you're gonna kill it out there, Lilia. Just keep the improv dialed down for this, okay?"

"Oh, yes—you there, ah... Briar," Lilia says.

"Oh, hi, Lilia, it's good to see you," Briar says.

"You too," Lilia says, "I understand you gave him an invitation to the SDC in return for his holiday greeting card?"

Briar blushes a bit and says, "Yeah. I did."

Flashback:

Briar then reaches into her pocket and brings out the SDC ticket.

A little embarrassed, Briar says, "Um Tsunotaro, I'd like to give you something in return for the card. I don't know if you heard, but they're going to be the cultural fair at the school with the fair and the SDC so, I um..." she then presents the ticket to him, "I like to know if you wanna come."

"Are these...tickets to the show they're putting on at this year's culture fair?" Tsunotaro asks, curiously.

He then grows a little surprised, "Are you actually inviting me?"

Briar smiles and nods her head in reply.

Suddenly, Tsunotaro begins to laugh with a smile, "Heh... Heh heh heh... Ha ha ha! You truly have no fear at all. Very well. I shall accept your gracious invitation," and take the tickets.

Flashback Ends:

"I thought it would be nice for him to come and see the show," Briar says.

"He may not have said as much, but he was over the moon about it. I'm grateful as well. Thank you for going out of your way to invite him," Lilia says with a smile on his face.

Cater becomes interested, "Ooh, what's this? You've got a Diasomnia bud now, Briar?"

"Um yes. I met him when he was taking a walk at the Ramshackle Dorm garden one night, during the Spelldrive investigate we did. I don't know his real name, but I gave him the nickname Tsunotaro," Briar explains.

"Tsunotaro?" Riddle questions.

"Um yeah. For some reason, he didn't tell me his name, even though I asked. And he said it's fine for me to give him the nickname," Briar says.

"I wouldn't mind getting this friend of yours," Riddle says.

"Do you know where he is?" Trey asks.

"Well no. Other than the dorm he stays in, I can't seem to find him around the school," Briar says.

"What does he look like?" Cater asks.

"Well, he's wearing A Night Raven College uniform so he's a student who goes to the school. And he's wearing a green and black band, green vest, and has a green gem magepen so he's in the Diasomnia dorm. He's tall, even taller than Jack. He pointed ears so he must be a fae. He has dark hair, green eyes, fair skin," Briar says, trying to describe him.

Then Briar remembers a distinctive detail about Tsunotaro, "And he has black horns on his head."

"Did you say... black horns?" Riddle asks.

"Um yes. I wanted to introduce him to the others, but we were never able to find him. That's kind of how I got the name Tsunotaro. Part of the name means Horn. Still, he is mysterious, but I can tell that he's a nice person. Still, you think a person who is tall and has black horns would have been noticeable..." Briar says.

Suddenly, Cater says, "Waaait a minute...

"A guy with horns? Dark hair? Tall? And he goes to our school?" Trey says, thinking of the details.

Then Riddle says, "There's only one person I know who fits that description..."

But Lilia interrupts Riddle, "Let's not get distracted, Cater. We'll be late if we don't get to the stage soon."

"Uh-oh, you're right," Cater says.

"We'll be taking our leave, then. May your SDC show be a successful one Briar," Lilia says.

"Um thank you," Briar says.

"Oh yes, it's almost noon," Riddle says, "Briar shouldn't you and the others be getting to the SDC rehearsal?

Grim yelps, "Myah! That's right! If we're late, Vil's gonna make us drink cursed juice!"

"It's around almost half hour before rehearsal, and Briar needs to get back for rehearsal," Tanzanite says.

Then Trey says, "We've gotten tickets from Ace, too. Break a leg out there. We'll be cheering for you."

"Tell our freshmen that if they embarrass themselves on stage, it's off with their heads," Riddle says.

"I'll pass it on!" Briar says.

"Anyway, we better get going," Briar says.

"Alright, and goodluck with your performance Briar. I'm sure you'll do great," Trey says.

"Thank you," Briar says.

With that, Briar and the others hurry off to make their way to the Purple Stage for the rehearsal.
