The soft patter of rain on the roof was a sweet humming in the background of your apartment. The little bit of sun poked through your curtains with all it's might as the afternoon heat began to die down. You had settled inside for the day as the storm blew over, leaving small trails of it's presence behind.
Beside you was Felix, tapping away at his computer to quickly complete the mission he was on. The clicking of the mouse followed in suit to most of his movements. Little sounds escapes his mouth as he sits on the edge of his gaming chair, eyes concentrating intently on the screen.
Sometimes you would glance up from your project to watch the intense moments, waiting to see if he failed or succeeded. If he lost, you would giggle and throw a joke his way. When he won, he would have a proud smirk across his lips as he stuck his tongue out. Regardless of the outcome, you interacted with each other occasionally and it settled a comforting mood.
When your project was finished, you cleaned it all and put it away for a new task. Deciding you wished to stay beside Felix anyway, you grabbed out a few nail polish colors and items to decorate with. A red, white, black and peach polish was perfect to make a Mario Mushroom nail art. Seeing as you had previously convinced your boyfriend he wouldn't be able to beat your old record on Mario, you believed game nails would be fitting.
"You have it easy," you comment, not looking his way as you swiped the white brush over a nail. "I had to play on a physical console to beat that level. Computer games are simplified."
He scoffed, rolling his eyes with a smile. "Easier? I highly doubt it. What did you play it on, the WII?"
"I'll have you know I was the master of the WII growing up. Game Cube too," you defended.
Felix came to a pause on the game, using the chance to swivel the chair around to face you. "A Game Cube? Really? Do you know how many years ago that was?"
You shrugged. "You can't beat old systems, babe. Retro is gold."
You both continued to tease back and forth before going into comfortable silence again. A couple more strokes of the nail brushes before you brought them to your lips, blowing gently to speed up the drying process. Your eyes would drift to his screen to check his progress, smiling softly to yourself as you took in this moment.
The rain gave you an excuse to stay inside and enjoy time together. It was rare the both of you had time to even spare, so you had to soak in each moment when you could. Felix was given a break after his North American tour, but most of it you were unable to spend with him. Your life never seemed to match up with his.
After delicately taking a dotting tool to dot the black eyes on your middle finger, you proudly proclaimed, "there!"
Felix pulls his headset completely off when he heard you speak again. "Lemme see!"
You stood up, nails high in the air to keep them from touching anything accidentally. Hands fanned out, you watch as he reached to delicately hold your hands by the back, careful of the wet polish. "They are mushrooms!"
He laughs when he recognizes the design. "These look amazing, darling. You did a good job." Taking your arms, he gently places them over his shoulder as he sits back in his seat. He then guides you by your waist to sit on his lap, wrapping both arms around you.
You cross your hands behind him, nails still pointed upwards. "I think they turned out pretty well," you say smugly.
Felix smiles brightly, eyes glimmering with adoration. "Wouldn't have expected any less from my love," he whispers softly. He exaggeratedly puckers his lips, creating a light clicking sound. "Gimme kiss."
You shook your head defiantly. "No. I don't kiss losers. You still haven't passed this level."
His brows furrow and he continues to move his lips expectantly. "Gimme kiss!" He urges, pulling you closer.
"No!" You giggle, trying to pull back as you came closer to his face. "No kiss!"
"Gimme!" He yells, matching your energy, eyes lightened and happy.
You caved, immediately placing your lips upon his in a quick peck. "There."
Felix's smile widened as he gazed up at you. "Thank you," he says, voice in his cute tone you never could resist. That's how he knew to continue his request, because you couldn't say no for very long anyway.
