I could only hear the rain.
It was quite a storm outside the studio where I waited, rain pellets dropping at the speed of light and the thunder rumbling in the background. How calming it seemed to be, yet no one in the building was calm at all. As the rain poured down heavily, everyone rushed around to get their business done quickly and head home. Before the storm got worse. They tossed around towels and water bottles to one another, not looking at me but a total focus on the task at hand.
I wish they would look at me, though.
I sighed, leaning my head down into my arms as I listened to the water dripping down onto the roof. The hair on my shoulders fell off and hung at my side, covering the bright studio lights that I had been staring at for what felt like hours. My energy was slowly leaving me as I awaited, exhaustion taking over. The feeling of calmness was just so overwhelming, I couldn't keep up with its touch.
"Baby," a gentle whisper in my ear brought me out of my thoughts. I slowly lifted my head and squinted my eyes to see who had called for me. To no surprise, a familiar man stood before me, his black hair parted to the side and slicked back with sweat and water. He had a soft smile on upon his lips and a sweet glance in his eyes that tenderly welcomed me.
Exhausted, I yawned and rubbed at my eyes, feeling the tiredness reach out for me more than ever. I had been sitting in this studio, listening in on the rain and soft music in the background for hours. Although it was my decision to come here, I had no choice but to stay as I did not have a ride. "Hmm?" I hum, meeting his gorgeous dark eyes.
"We can go home now, okay?" He places a hand on my cheek and rubs it lightly. "My poor girl, you look so tired."
I leaned into his warm hand. "Very much," I say. "Not much to do in a corner for hours. My phone died awhile ago."
Jin woo frowns a bit, a look of guilt hidden within his eyes. He leans back from me before standing up, a hand out my way and a thumb pointing towards the exit. "In an apology for making you wait long, do you want some ice cream?"
I take his hand, helping myself to my feet and intertwining our fingers together. I was satisfied with his attempt at making it up to me, and more happy that he considered how I felt these few hours. I was insanely bored from sitting on the cold hard floor with absolutely nothing to do but watch the man I loved dance his heart out. And as much as I enjoyed seeing him do his best, the same routine over and over became tiring for everyone.
"Not just ice cream - I request a hot fudge sundae. Something perfect for my weird temperature to be balanced out, don't you think?" I cracked a smile up at him, catching his eye. He grinned back at me and nodded, amused by my sudden change in attitude as we left the studio room. The lights flickered off behind us and we soon joined the other few people in his group.
"We're going to go get some ice cream, okay? I'll meet you guys back at the dorm after I drop her off," Jin woo tells the few tall boys. He looks onto one of them, who's eyes were narrow like a sweet cat gazing into your heart, who's name was Moonbin. "Be sure to lock up before you go home for the day."
I wave to the boys, watching my steps to keep pace with my love as we walked away. It felt nice to hold onto his hand that engulfed my own, as it brought on a sense of comfort and security. A familiar feeling that I could never grow tired of. It was just something that calmed my heart immediately and put every distress full thought to the side.
Jin woo glances at me. "Do you want to run across the street with me to the ice cream parlor or do you wish to go somewhere else?"
I could still hear the heavy raindrops pounding on the roof of the large building. I made a face at the thought of running in what would be a cooling rain and looked to Jinwoo, hoping he wouldn't make me do it.
"Is that a no?" He laughs, soaking in my facial features with a bright smile.
"Well..." I drift off my words before looking outside into the dark world. "It might be quicker to do that, but let's be careful, okay?"
Nodding his head, he tightened the grip on my hand before opening the door. Immediately the sound of the rain flooded my ears and maxed over anything my boyfriend tried to say to me. When I looked up to him, I could see his eyes focused on the sky and a smile upon his lips. The cool water was refreshing to him, and I was glad he could feel relaxed at this time.
"One...two..." he counts steadily, looking to me the whole time. But my gaze went straight forward as the thought of possibly tripping made it more difficult to look away. The crosswalk light had turned green.
"Three!" I yelled, running straight into the rain and practically dragging Jinwoo behind me. He struggled at first to keep up with me, but because there was more puddles to jump through on my side, he eventually was the one tugging me. The thunderstorm roared above our heads, making me pick up my legs as we ran.
Jinwoo started to laugh. "What are you doing?" He kept taking peeks at me until we were right in front of the store. "What kind of run was that?"
I made a face. "It was the 'I gotta get our of here' run along side the 'My pants are soaked so my butt may be numb' feeling. Have you never felt it before?"
He raised his eyebrows in disbelief before shaking his head. "You do all sorts of things, huh?" After shaking hid hair to rid of water droplets, he glanced over me. Seeing that I was completely soaking wet, he frowns. "Are you sure you want ice cream? You're freezing."
Despite the fact I could nearly feel my legs stiffen from the cold outside temperature, I nodded my head rapidly. "Of course! Why wouldn't I?" Ignoring my wet body, I entered the ice cream parlor, only to receive weird looks.
A woman walked out from the back room and frowned at us. "Im sorry, I didn't lock up yet. We're closed."
