It was night. Barely any light was found within the street as the young girl walked it. Her head turned at nearly every sound, the music playing in the background creating a more suspenseful event. The shaking of her hands was an indicator that she was nervous, and more importantly, scared to be alone in an unfamiliar place.I stared at the TV screen, the late night movie playing on it with ease. I hadn't realized how absorbed I had become with the show, it just had caught my interest at some point. Slowly, I brought the food up to my mouth before munching on it quickly and swallowing so that I could hear the music.
A dark shadow had rushed past the main girl on the television, allowing me to create an idea on what I thought would happen next. Never did I expect my television to turn off, along with the cable light and the heater in the house. I jumped at the sudden change of atmosphere and stared at the darkness of my apartment.
"Well that's different," I mumbled, putting down my popcorn to look for a flashlight. It might have been because of the snow storm coming my way that my power was going out, but I couldn't tell. I could only try to remain calm and grab a small light from under the kitchen sink.
Sighing, I decided to end my movie marathon for the night. It was probably best that I slept anyway, in case I needed to do things tomorrow. I dragged my solemn body up the stairs of the apartment and into my bedroom. On instinct I hit the bedroom light, but it didn't flicker in like normal.
I laughed a little to ease my own tension. Getting right to it, I grabbed a ton of blankets from the closet and threw them on to my bed. I slid under the covers and happily snuggled into the blankets, waiting for sleep to take over me. That was, until I felt heat on my back that made me jolt.
I spun around immediately and flicked on the flashlight. "What the fu-" the words started to slip out of my mouth when I realized what it was.
Or more likely, who it was.
Seokwoo grinned lazily at me, rubbing his tired eyes. "Hello my love, isn't it a cold winter night? I thought I could warm myself up by staying here."
I sighed. "Rowoon! You inconsiderate brat why are you here?!" I flicked off the flashlight and plopped back down on the bed, cuddling into his body to retain his heat.
He reacted to me by wrapping his large arms around my frame, engulfing me in his embrace. "Oh darling, didn't I just say why?" Despite me yelling at him, he hadn't cared. Quite frankly, he didn't truly care about anything. He always got his way, anyhow.
I huffed. "No seriously, how did you get here? Isn't the council hot on your trail at the moment? Why would you come here, to a human household, and poke a sleeping bear? It's going to cause unwanted trouble."
I heard him tsk. He was one of the sassiest vampires I had ever met, and the only one. A true, full-blooded vampire that lurked in the shadows just to piss me off and see if he could scare me. A vampire who sharpened his teeth with MY things and slept in MY bed.
A very, very clingy vampire.
"Do you think I truly cared what the council is doing at this moment? All I did was take a snack from the wolf's land--might I add that I had not known it was a wolf's land until after I took the snack."
Despite his terrible thought process and weird words, I smiled and shook my head. Seokwoo was definitely not the same type of vampire you would see on TV. He was the complete opposite of a cold blooded killer, or a pasty and sappy romantic that liked humans. Although, he did like me.
No, Seokwoo was a troublemaker. He would go around doing whatever he pleased, whenever he pleased. Typically, if he did so in the human world, I was the one to clean up his mess. And if it was in his world, it was his best friend Chanhee.
And today he wished to cause more problems by cuddling a human and staying at her house to hide from the vampire council.
Because when it comes to me, he was a softie. A big, warm, sarcastic teddy bear that just wanted cuddles and attention. He couldn't get that from most vampire women as they were head strong. And most humans weren't aware of his existence.
I only got lucky from a mere accident.
"Did the power go out?" His deep voice brought me from my thoughts as he started to play with my hair. "It seems rather chilly in here."
Aww, he cares.
"I don't like it. I can't sleep in the cold."
I rolled my eyes and snuggled deeper into his broad chest. "Get over it cupcake," I mumbled into his shirt. The familiar scent surrounded me and made me feel more safe knowing he was here. "You are like a giant heating pad."
He chuckles. "You are an ice box. A freezing, insufferable-"
"I got it. Thanks."
Seokwoo nods his head on top of mine. "I'm glad you know," he whispers, then placing a gentle kiss on top of where his chin had laid on my head. "Baby girl I love you."
My heart, despite have heard that saying many times, fluttered dramatically in my chest. I smiled slightly before leaning back to glance up at him, the moonlight from outside seeping through my curtains and shinning on his beautiful features. "Me too, Woo. I love you too."
He grins. "Did you eat a lot today?"
I sighed, knowing what he meant. "I had two cans of cola and a chocolate bar earlier. I also ate popcorn and have not brushed my teeth yet. Satisfied?" I attempted to turn him away from my appearance at the mention of forgetting to cleanse my mouth, but he didn't seem the least bit phased.
"I think that's enough," he happily states before leaning down to place a delicate kiss to my neck. "I'm starving."
Tilting my head to the side to give him access despite the fight I put up, I respond sarcastically: "Was the snack at the wolf's place not enough?"
His teeth sunk into my neck immediately. After a moment of me staring at the ceiling with boredom, he pulls back and placed another kiss to the same spot. "Of course not. Nothing could ever compare to your sweet blood."
I rolled my eyes. "And that's a line I'm sure picks up all the women."
Rowoon grins cheekily. "It got you." He leans down to place a quick kiss to my lips. "Now go brush your salty mouth or else I'm leaving. Which means no more heat for you!"
