Chapter 20- y/n pov

I'm glad Saiki went to help. I wanted some time to change. Right now I'm looking in the mirror, seeing myself in this dress really makes me realise how much I've spent my life letting go of my desire to dress nice in order not to stand out. Maybe I should stop worrying so much about that. I end up standing out anyways.

"Oh! You look so cute in that dress! Let me take a picture!"

My mom came into my room to see me in this dress. She's more excited than any of the kids going to the party. She's sweet so I can't be mad at her. She quickly takes out her phone to take pictures.

"Eheh! Mom! I don't have my makeup on yet!"

I quickly put it on before she takes pictures of me. It's easy to do it quickly when you're psychic.

My mom starts taking photos of me.

"Okay! Mom that's enough! I'm gonna be late!"

"Okay okay! Have fun sweetie! Remember to try forget about the mind reading, just try have fun!"

Says my mom as I get my handbag before leaving.

"Okay! See you soon mom!"

Sigh.

This is gonna be a pain. But oh well. I'll just try get through this as unremarkably as possible. I'm glad it's Kokomi's birthday. It means I can look nice since all attention will be on her.

Her house isn't too far away from my house. When I get there I knock.

Hairo opens the door. "Oh hey girl! Come in, you're pretty early! Teruhashi is still getting ready!"

I come in and Hairo quickly walks away to help with some decorations that fell off the wall.

"Offu-"

Huh?

Was that Saiki? How come he didn't use telepathy? Plus Kokomi isn't here, who's he gasping at? And even if she was, he wouldn't say that. That's weird. Oh well. I'll just sit down somewhere while I wait for people to arrive.

Some time passes. People have arrived and everyone's seems to be having fun. I'm trying my best to stay away from people. Somehow I got roped into karaoke, eyes were on me but Kokomi went after me so all eyes went to her. Not too bad I guess.

We took some time to eat together and sing Kokomi happy birthday, Saiki as well since this ended up being a joint party, to an extent at least.

After eating music is put on and people start mingling and dancing.

I'm getting overwhelmed. I hate crowded areas so much, I'm getting a headache. I'll just get some air outside in the backyard. The stars are out, it might help me calm down since I really like stars for some reason.

I go out and sit on some steps leading to the backyard.

Sigh.

I wanted to have fun but it's just so hard for me and my stupid powers.

I can hear music lightly from inside.

This week has been so stressful. I haven't been able to sleep much recently.

"Hey."

"Huh? Oh, hi Saiki"

He must be here for air too.

"You sound less cheery than usual."

"Yeah sorry, I can't help it. I'm just really tired and crowds give me really bad headaches."
