It Was Just a Dream

Neteyam and I chased each other around the forest for a while.  The amount of joy this man can bring into myself is nothing I've felt before.  I never thought I needed someone as much as I did him. 

I climbed up into a tree out of breath needing a break so we stopped for a bit.  He sat in the same tree on the same branch as I.  We were laughinf and joking around.

"So y/n," Neteyam started off, "This morning when I was peaking through your window-"

I cut him off, "I told you I wasn't mad you don't need to apologize," I laughed and bumped his side.  I truly wasn't mad I'm sure he was just trying to scare me awake again.

"No that's not it, this morning I saw you wake up in a fright." Neteyam coreected me.  I looked at me trying to find answers.

"I just had a bad dream thats all," I didn't want to worry him.  I know I was scared but that's because when I awoke I didn't know what was real and what wasn't.

"Well, I'm here to listen y/n," Neteyam said looking at me as to comfort me.

I want to tell him I do, but I also dont want to seem like a cry baby.  He means so much to me and in the dream I got him taken away from me.

"it's stupid Neteyam," I told him trying to convicne him which wasn't working.

"Well can you tell me?" He asked, I can but you're going to laugh at me and probably call me stupid i thought.

"As long as you don't laugh at me," I told him sternly.

"I would never laugh at you my love," he said.  My love? He always sneaks those in when I'm least expecting it. 

"Okay well, in the dream I had, the sky people came here.  I don't know how they found you guys but they did and something bad happened that I can't recall that caused everyone to freak out." pausing to take a breath a continue, "The next thing I know Tuk, Tsireya and Lo'ak are handcuffed to a ship and a bunch of random things happened," I can't recall all of it and it's starting to upset me knowing i'm just rambeling.  "In the short run missing details you got shot and didn't make it.  That's when I woke up in a panic," I finished looking at him. 

I could tell looking at him, this man is my whole world and the way he looked back at me told me I was his too.  He was looking at me with his ears pinned down. 

"It;s stupid I know," Looking away from him moving my mask to wipe me tears.

"It's not stupid," Neteyam lightly guided my face back to his.  "It means so much that you care about me, but I promise you, that will never happen." 

"How do you know though," I asked him getting upset at his calm behavior.

"Because I'm going to be with you forever y/n, just you and me.  Where ever I go you go and where ever you go I go."  He told me lookign into my eyes deeply. 

"Neteyam, I can't stand the thought of loosing you," I said as he pulled me into his chest.

"So don't think about it because I'm right here," He whispered. 

How is it this man can go from beating someone up one day, to being the most gentle thing in this forest.  I can feel his muscles holding me firmly but not too tight and I feel like I'm just melting away in his arms. 

"Are you going to have dinner with us tonight?"  Neteyam pulled away asking me. 

"Yeah, as long as your dad won't grill me again for helping you guys win a fight," I told him jokingly.

"He won't I promise, he usually grills us once then moves on," neteyam said as he jumped out of the tree, "I want to catch you jump,"

I stand up and looking at him, "Okay, but if you're messing with me and let me hit the ground I'll do to you what I did to the one boy," we shared smiles and i leaped falling into his arms. 

We walked back out of the forest to have dinner with his family. 

"Y/n," Tuk said smiling, "I heard you beat someones ass-"

"TUK!" both parents yelled along with Neteyam.  Kiri and Lo'ak just laughed.

"Do I respond to that?" I asked Neteyam and his parents

"It was for self defense," Jake said, "but yes she did," he held up his fist to fist bump and I obliged.

Dinner was kind of quiet other than the small talk Jake and Neytiri would make to their kids.  I was the first to get done eating and shortly after everyone else was done too.

"So we're going to have a family meeting tonight after dinner," Jake said to me and I looked at him, "You're welcome to join if you'd like,"

Did they really think of me like family that much?  That's so sweet of them. 

"I couldn't intrude like that, but thank you for the invite.  I have to go get more oxygen then I figured I'd stay by the ocean tonight," I told them truthfully.

"Okay well we're going to head out" Neytiri said giving me a soft smile causing everyone else to get up. 

I stood up as well and Neteyam kissed my head, "I'll be out later when were done with this," He told me and I nodded in response. 

I made my way back to the forest to grab more oxygen from the lab.  Walking through the forest I felt like I was being watched but chances are I was just by the other animals.  I quickly ran into the lab and back out to the ocean.

I got to the ocean but I didn't want to just be sitting out in the open so I found a small spot where the trees met with the water and sat by them.  That feeling was still hanging over me though, like something was close my and watching me.  I looked around to my sides and saw nothing, until I looked in the forest and saw one of the native clan memebers there looking at me.

"Can I help you?" I asked them trying to keep my cool but also have a slight annoyance in my voice.

He walked out from the forest looking at me, "You don't rememeber me do you?"

Then it clicked and I knew exactly who he was...
