The Girl Reborn / Neteyam x reader

I looked at Lo'ak laughing after what Kiri said.  I felt okay now and the feeling I felt this morning went away for the most part.  I still had a lingering feeling like I was still reliving it. 

I called my Ilu back to me and got on her.  When I got on her I connected our Queues again. 

I looked over at Neteyam, "wanna race?" I said to him smirking. 

Neteyams face lit up in joy and hopped on his Ilu.  "You're gonna lose," he told me. 

"We will see about that," I said looking forward, "Tsireya, give us a count down,"

Me and Neteyam were concentrated on waiting for the count down looking forward. 

"Okay! 3.." Tsireya Said and I got my stance ready and launch forward. "2... 1.." she said.

Me and Neteyam both took off quick staying right next to each other.  I felt this drive of energy burst through me as I looked at him.  I smiled at him and took off faster leaving him behind me. 

We never really decided where to end the race so I took the chance to while I was ahead.  I leaped up into the sky as before yelling in victory with one arm up.  I smiled as Neteyam followed right behind me leaping into the air. 

Even though we were only in the air for a few seconds, it felt longer with him as I looked into his eyes in joy and tilted my head back laughing.  I descended quick and broke the surface to the water and stayed under riding.  This was all just so pretty under here.

I was lost in thought starring at Everything smiling.  I closed my eyes to focus on the water around me and take in the moment. When I did I felt the cold embrace again wrap around me and opened my eyes freaking out with my heartbeat going up.

My Ilu freaked out as well feeling what I felt and took off but I wasnt ready for her to so I got left behind.  She took off back to the group and I stayed where I was trying to swim to the surface. 

My lungs burnt but this time just from lacking air.  I was just about to the surface when Neteyam pulled me over to him and his Ilu. 

We broke the surface and Neteyam looked at me confused.  I didn't know if he saw the whole thing or if he just saw my Ilu without me.  I don't want to scare them with this feeling I've been having.

"What was that? What happened" Neteyam asked me.  What do I even say?

"I needed air and panicked so I guess I freaked out my Ilu," I told him hoping he's believe me.

Neteyam just looked at my eyes trying to figure out if there was more.  I was breathing heavy so I guess he bought it.  " we can work on your breathing and heart rate later," he told me smiling.

I smiled back to him and hoped on his Ilu.  I can't stand this feeling of that emptiness eating at me.  I don't know why I keep getting that feeling I got when I died.  It was scary and now it just lingers around. 

I help onto Neteyams torso as we rode he held onto my knee.  He felt safe, like he was going to protect me against what was lingering around me.  I wanted to stay close to him like he was my light in the nothing. 

We got back to the group and they were laughing at me cause they just thought I fell off.  I joined laugh with them as I didn't want to raise suspicion. 

I greeted my Ilu, "I'm sorry for spooking you," I told her looking at her bringing her head to my chest. 

"It happens, you just have to get used to the fact that you feel her and she can feel you." Tsireya said to make me not feel as bad. 

Neteyam came up behind me putting his arm around me and taking his other one and petting my Ilu.  "You know you have to name her," he said into my ear and it gave me butterflies.

I looked at her trying to decide a name.  I looked at the pattern on her skin and chose the best name I could think of. 

"I think I'm going to name her Tyra, it means thunder warrior in Scandinavia on Earth I read it in a book," I said looking at Neteyam. 

"That sounds so pretty," Tuk said chipping in. 

"Yeah it does," Neteyam said, "just like her owner," Neteyam said being really sweet. 

"Ew bro, she's only been back a day" lo'ak said causing us all to laugh.  Neteyam tackled Lo'ak into the water messing around. 

All of us girls stood by laughing at them being ridiculous. 

"Y/n!" I heard the chief yell and I turned around to see what he wanted.  "Can you come see us?" The chief asked and I obliged walking out of the water to their hut. 

I was walking by myself and felt everyone starting at me.  I thought my skin was cool but they just looked at me like I wasn't really real and something was off about me still. 

I got to the chief and Ronals hut and sat down. 

"So we know things my be difficult right now but we wanted to ask how you were?" Ronal asked me looking at my skin amazed.

"I'm okay, I just feel a little out of place" I told them smiling. 

"We understand that you went through a lot and a very traumatic thing, I'm here to help your soul if you need it," Ronal said giving me a hug.

"Thank you guys but I'm really okay," I said to the both of them thankful they cared.  But my ears and tail showed how I really felt. 

They dismissed me to go back after I told them what Eywa said to me at the tree when I was gone. 

Leaving the hut there were less people starting at me cause the chief stood in front of me leading me out.  I walked back over to the Sullys hut after not seeing them in the water anymore. 

Getting to the hut Neteyam still wasn't there as I looked around. 

"Hey Kiri do you know where Neteyam is?" I asked her and she shook her head no. 

As I was standing there confused where he went I felt something grab my tail which caused me to turn around swinging followed by a hiss.  Neteyam ducked luckily and looked at me shocked as well as his parents. 

I don't know why I put my defenses up so quickly but it scared me and I looked shocked as I realized it was Neteyam. 

"Wow I didn't realize your new body came with a little bit of eagerness to hit" Neteyam said laughing pulling me into a hug.  I was just shocked that I almost hit him.

I looked at Jake and Neytiri smiling at us, I had my eyes wide barely hugging Neteyam back, "Don't be scared, the first time I met Jake I hit him with my bow," neytiri said to me laughing. 

"Plus sometimes us boys deserve it," Jake said nudging Neytiri. 

I hugged Neteyam back and just felt safe again.  When I'm not around him or the rest of the Sullys I feel like mentally I'm going back into that feeling and just want to sink or have that feeling go away.
