❤️Surprises|Dabi

Okay! It's currently 8:17 pm on January 18, 2023. I have less than four hours to write this story for Dabi's birthday... Oh, by the way, this is a Dabi birthday special! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DABI! Anyways I've been trying to think of a story to write all day and now it's past 8 pm and I'm just starting this. Let's hope I can do this in less than four hours! :D

I sit in the base with a cupcake that has a candle in it. I light the candle and slowly start to sing.

"Happy birthday to you... happy birthday to you... happy birthday dear Toya... happy birthday to you" I finish with tears running down my face.

I blow out the candle and sigh staring at the cupcake. This isn't where he'd want me, I know this, a villain running from the law, but, I couldn't look at heroes the same after his death. Especially endeavor. The fact he's the number two hero kills me. I want him dead so that I could get revenge for my dead boyfriend. I sigh and take the candle out of the cupcake. I wipe my face with my sleeve and bite into the dessert. As I finish the sweet I slime bitterly.

"Happy birthday my love, I miss you every day," I say to myself and get up off the bar stool and look at the time. '12:31 AM' I chuckle and shake my head.

"thirty minutes just to eat a cupcake and sing a song... That's better than last year. Maybe I'll get even better next year..." I say to myself as I throw the cupcake liner in the trash. I walk toward my room, I turn the corner and bump into someone. I look up to see Dabi.

"Sorry," I say as I go to walk away. He grabs my arm and pulls me back.

"You've been crying, why?" Dabi asks and I sigh and shake my head.

"It's nothing, just a friend's birthday that I can't celebrate with them," I say pulling my arm away.

Dabi looks at me and for a second I see Toya in him. I shake my head as tears start to prick my eyes.

"Seriously Dabi it doesn't matter, he's dead, so there's nothing anyone can do... just let me go please," I say trying to hold the tears in.

Dabi doesn't let go instead he pulls me closer hugging me.

"I may not be the nicest but I do have feelings, I care about everyone in the league. Seeing one of the members upset hurts me. Let me comfort you" Dabi says as he holds me tightly. I stop struggling and just cry. I let all the tears out. I calm down eventually. We are now sitting on the couch. Dabi still has a hold of me by the waist.

"Thank you, Dabi," I say with a smile, and Dabi nods.

"You're welcome Cloak, now do you want to talk about your friend?" Dabi asks and at first, I want to say no but I nod my head instead.

"Okay, I'm listening," Dabi says and I sigh and nod again.

"My friend was super protective and caring towards everyone he knew. His father was and still is a piece of shit human. I remember one day when he and I were younger we were playing our version of hide and seek called Fire and mist. I would use my quirk to cloak the area in a dark mist and he'd have to use his fire to find me. He always complained that I won every time because I controlled the mist. I would just laugh until he laughed along with me. He was never actually mad just liked to complain and act like he was. There was this other time when we first met, my parents and his parents were friends and we were at a hero gala with them. The other kids were all off to the side playing. While we stood next to our parents because we were their prodigies. The next in line to become the next big heroes. I remember being seven then, we decided to sneak off with each other and sit on the balcony and talk to each other. Neither of us knew how to play games or be kids. All we knew was training and being around adults. So when we got to the balcony we started talking, asking the cliche first meeting questions, such as what our favorite color or food was. We talked for hours before our parents found us. Boy were they mad! I remember being scolded for sneaking away. I almost gotten grounded if it wasn't for my friend stepping in and standing up for us both. I remember his exact words to this day. He said 'You know, we were just talking to each other, trying to get to know each other while you guys talked. We would've stayed if it wasn't for the fact we kept getting shushed every time we tried to speak to one another. I'm sorry, we did this but we just wanted to get to know each other.' I remember going bug-eyed because he stood up for us. I remember chiming in and saying 'He's right! We weren't talking about anything except our favorite things. No strategies or revealing weaknesses.' My parents nodded and ended up being fine with it. His mom was fine with it from the beginning. His dad was the hard one to win over. It wasn't until I chimed in that he relaxed and allowed it to happen. He was my best friend and later my boyfriend once we grew older. If his dad hadn't decided to make his little brother his new golden child he'd probably still be here. I mean he went out to practice his fire to impress his dad and ended up losing control and killing himself." I finish the story with a single tear falling down my cheek.

I look at Dabi and see he is spacing out.

"Dabi are you okay?" I ask. Dabi ends up coming out of his trance and nods his head.

"Yeah sorry, do you mind me asking what your friend's name was?"Dabi asks and I smile fondly.

"Toya, Toya Todoroki. The eldest son of Endeavor" I say and Dabi looks at me stunned.

"What?" I ask.

"Little mouse?" Dabi asks me quietly.

"Wha- To-Toya?" I ask and Dabi just looks at me and nods.

"Wait what? How? You are supposed to be dead" I say shocked and mind-boggled.

"I didn't die, they never found a body, I left and decided to become well me," Dabi says and I smile pulling him in and hugging him.

"I missed you so much. So... so much" I say and Dabi chuckles.

"I missed you too little mouse," Dabi says kissing my forehead.

"Let's go to bed yeah? My room?" Dabi asks and I nod.

"Okay," Dabi says as he picks me up and carries me to his room bridal style.

We kiss and soon fall asleep holding each other close.

And done! I finished at 9:30 pm! For not having any ideas at first, to writing this I'm quite proud! I hope you all enjoyed this one! Happy birthday Dabi AKA Toya Todoroki. I love this man lol XD.
