Y/n L/n is a very smart kid with a wonderful quirk. Their dream has been to be a hero. There is only one problem. Y/n has lived in the Tokyo adoption center since he was three. His parents disappeared never to be seen again. Growing up in the adoption center had its perks and downfalls. When he was younger it was cool because he never had to transition into a new house or family. Only as he grew older did the spark of being in the same place grow dimmer and dimmer. Y/n once the most talkative boy in the center became quiet. Y/n stopped speaking around people entirely by the age of ten. The older he gets the harder it is to keep hope that someone will want him. People always go for the cute little kids and babies, not a moody quiet teenager who gives off an I don't want to be here kinda vibe. Y/n hasn't talked to anyone in Six years. That is until someone came into the adoption center.

"Happy sixteenth birthday Y/n" Maribelle the only matron Y/n has interacted with since the day he went mute.

"Thank you" Y/n signs in JSL. Japanese sign language was taught to Y/n at a young age in case a kid or family that was deaf or hard of hearing adopted him or came into the center.

"You're welcome," Maribelle says patting the boy's head. Y/n smiles a small smile and walks away. Y/n sits down at a table and looks at the contents on it, paper, scissors, glue, and your everyday typical craft supplies. Y/n sighs and looks around the room. Suddenly the door opens revealing a small family. They walk in and Y/n instantly recognizes them.

"Ah Pro heroes Erasue Head and Present Mic welcome to the Tokyo adoption center how can we help you?" Maribelle says standing in front of the little family.

"We wanted to adopt another child. As you can see we have two already but figured they could use another sibling" Pro hero Erasure Head says. All the kids paying attention start whispering and gossiping about who might be adopted. Y/n tunes everyone out by going to a beanbag in the back of the room, plopping down, and putting a cheap pair of headphones on. Not caring if he gets talked to or not since he's older and knows they won't want him. A few minutes pass and suddenly Y/n sees someone walk up to him. Y/n takes his headphones off stops the music on his iPod and looks up. He sees Present Mic and waves hello. Present Mic kneels and looks Y/n in the eyes.

"Hello, I am Hizashi what's your name?" Mic says and Y/n looks at him and then over to Maribelle. Y/n stands up looks at Mic and waves him to follow him. Mic looks confused but follows anyway.

Y/n walks to Maribelle and taps her shoulder. She turns and looks at the boy and then at Mic.

"Oh, I see you've found Y/n," Maribelle says, and Mic nods.

"Oh, you look confused, did he try talking to you?" Maribelle says and Y/n nods.

"I see," Maribelle says and then looks at Mic.

"Sorry for any confusion, Y/n doesn't talk, he has selective mutism," Maribelle says, and Mic nods. Mic looks at Y/n and smiles.

"Do you know JSL" Mic signs and asks aloud. Y/n's eyes light up.

"Yes, I do!" Y/n signs with a smile on his face.

"Wonderful, let's start over, Hello I am Hizashi what's your name?" Mic signs.

"Y/n L/n, it's nice to meet you," Y/n signs and Mic smiles.

"It's nice to meet you too" Y/n signs. Mic smiles and they sign back and forth for a while.
