Devin's POV
I stood up then helped Emilia stand up. I started wiping her tears away.

"You okay?"

"Yeah. I-I'm good. I-I'm just really happy. Since we were 17?"

"Yeah. I wasn't joking."

She sniffled.

"When did you realize you want to?"

"It's gonna sound stupid but...when you bought me that damn video game."

"Uhh can I have help with my homework again?"

We started staring at each other. We started laughing.

"Sure."

Me and Emilia sat down and started helping my sister with her homework

"Ew. What's this?"

"Social studies."

Emilia couldn't stop looking at her ring.

"Hello? Em?"

I started shaking her.

"Huh? Oh! Sorry! I'm still trying to process this."

My mom came and picked up my sister. Marisol ended up telling our mom. Luna had to leave.

"So...do you like the ring?"

"I love it."

I smiled.

"Is this why you were so excited outta nowhere?"

"Yeah."

"You're so cute. How long have you been planning this?"

"Oof. Let's see. I didn't know who to ask at first. Then my dumbass realized to ask your mom."

"Did you just ask her today?"

"Oh no. I asked her last year."

"Huh?! Why didn't you do it then?!"

"Couldn't find a ring, I thought you'd like. It was really upsetting me. No joke. I went insane. I went to like 4 stores today."

"You didn't have to do that."

I shrugged.

"Any ring would've been fine."

"I was also scared."

"So...you've been planning this for 4 years?"

"I wouldn't call it that. I was trying to make up for everything."

She started holding my hands.

"Dev, you made up for everything years ago."

"It doesn't feel like it."

She cupped my face and started shaking it.

"Hey! Get off!"

She started laughing. I grabbed her hands.

"What was the purpose of that?"

"I used to do that to you when you were doubting yourself."

"Oh. That's right. You haven't done that in years."

"Stop it. I love you. You've made up for literally everything."

"I-I'm sorry."

"Don't apologizeeeee."

She kissed me.

"I can't believe...you waited a year. That's cute. You wanted it to be perfect right?"
