I can't sleep during the night, it's like my brain is running a thousand miles an hour. So I just toss and turn the whole night, until getting up at half past five.
I go to the breakfast room to grab a coffee and something to eat. The good thing about fancy hotels is that almost everything is available 24/7.
I pick out a chocolate muffin, some berries and a little sandwich to go with my iced latte. Yes, they have ice coffee available during breakfast as well. I grab my breakfast with me and decide to watch the sunrise outside. Sunrises are one of my favourite things in this world, they remind me of new beginnings and opportunities. No matter what happens, the sun will always rise and a new day will begin. This thought calms me down when I'm feeling stressed or anxious.
I find a nice spot with chairs and a table in the hotel's balcony and decide to mark it as my spot. But it turns out that I'm not the only one who's awake at this hour. Mason is sitting on a bench a few metres away from me. So I abandon my newly claimed spot and sit next to him, setting my breakfast in between us.
"Want to share my breakfast?" I ask, giving him my bowl of berries, because I'm not giving up the chocolate muffin, I'm not that generous.
"Thanks. How come you're already up? You hate waking up early," Mason points out and looks at me.
"I just couldn't sleep, no idea why. So I decided to just get up and start my day," I shrug and smile at him.
We stay silent, just watching the sunrise together and eating my breakfast. For a second everything seems so peaceful and perfect.
"Evelynn came by last night looking for you, where were you?" He asks suddenly and turns his head towards me.
"I was taking a walk and ran into someone I know, nothing special," I try to tell him but he gives me an all knowing look.
"Jude was also asking why you were with one of the Spanish players after yesterday's match," He points out and I can feel myself turning red. Jude literally threw me under the bus here.
"No reason, we were just talking, nothing else," I reply without looking at my brother.
"Please tell me you're not going after him. I don't want to end up punching the guy because he broke my little sister's heart," Mason says with a straight face.
Oh Mason, if you only knew.
