Turns out that the team night our team planned is very different from some of the other teams. As we're going to the conference room, that's situated on the second floor of the building, we pass some players of the Spanish team wearing suits and everything. Meanwhile all of us just have casual outfits, like jeans and t-shirts. Maybe we English people are just lazy, but what's the point of dressing up if we're just going to spend time together and chill?
I wonder if Pedri and Gavi are wearing suits again. Even the thought of Pedri in a suit makes me want to escape this team night and go find him. I make a mental note to myself to stop by their door before going to sleep.
I think Gavi must be annoyed that I have basically invaded their room. I mean he could always go to mine and Evelynn's room, so I don't see the problem. Sorry, not sorry.
Me and Evelynn decided to wear jeans and England's jerseys, casual but cute. It's a team night after all and we need to show our support. I also want to feel better about abandoning my England jersey for Pedri's one during the last match. I did not do that lightly and I'm so glad no one knows about that. Except for Evelynn who just thought it was cute and not wrong at all.
Everyone's already in the conference room as we get there. Jude is the first one to give us a hug and ask how we're doing. Mason must have said something to them because they all look at us with sympathy. Well more like they look at Evelynn and I'm just there glaring at them. If one of them even mentions the incident, I will remind them to keep their mouths shut.
"The inseparable twins are finally here! Why do you girls always take so long to get ready?" Jack Grealish jokes. I flip him off and show off our outfits. "This is what takes so long. Looking good," I say and give him a wink. To which Mason just pretends to throw up and screams "That's my sister, please stop guys."
We all burst out laughing and go sit down by the chairs. The boys have planned a ping pong tournament and gossip. If you thought girls loved gossiping, boys are just on another level.
Mason ends up winning the ping pong tournament while I give up halfway through. The thing about me is, yes I'm competitive, but if I'm not good at something, I just don't want to do it. I hate losing and I'm definitely a sore loser. Afterwards we just eat some snacks the team brought with them. That's when the gossip starts flying.
"So I've heard from a little birdie that you, Jude, are becoming the hottest player of the World Cup," Jack starts and gives Jude a shove on the ribs. Jude just blushes and mumbles something about Jack shutting up.
"So little twins, have you found any good looking boys in here?" Declan Rice asks us with a devilish smirk on his face. He knows how we like to drool over boys and loves to make fun of us.
"Well... There's certainly many attractive players here, but may I remind you that my dear brother is here in this room with us. So I won't be spilling any of my secrets. And Mason before you start, yes I remember football players are horrible and very bad. So no need to lecture me," I point at Mason and everyone just bursts out laughing. Everyone just starts making fun of Mason and the subject changes. Besides me Evelynn gives me a little grateful smile since I managed to redirect the question.
"Oh bloody hell you've got to be kidding me!" Declan Rice screams as he's looking outside from the big windows of the room. We all gather around him and the sight in front of us is something I'll never forget. Six boys from the Spanish team are jumping to the pool in the back of the hotel with their suits on. The whole English team bursts out laughing and joking about how the Spanish can't handle the heat.
"Am I seeing what I think I am?" I whisper to Evelynn who's staring at the boys from beside me. I have to blink a few times to make sure I'm not imagining things. Pedri and Gavi are with some of their teammates in the freaking pool.
"I think so. Unless I've died and went to heaven," Evelynn whispers back and looks around to make sure no one has noticed our drooling. For a while we both try to pretend that we don't care what's happening outside, but it's not really working.
The rest of our team starts playing some kind of card game, but me and Evelynn stay by the window. When we finally look back outside, I can see both of our men looking up at us. They're soaking wet from their dive to the pool and my mind is definitely having a hard time keeping up.
The other boys start jumping to the pool, doing different kinds of diving while Gavi and Pedri just stare at us. And then they do the unthinkable. They both start undressing their shirts while keeping an eye contact with us. Or at least Pedri is looking straight at me. I have no idea what Gavi is doing, because my eyes are glued to the man who stole my heart all those months ago. I think I'm finally ready to admit to myself that this thing between us is anything but casual and there's definitely some feelings involved. On my part at least.
Pedri gives me one last wink before taking his shirt fully off and my jaw hits the ground. I mean I've seen him without a shirt multiple times, but never like this. Next to me Evelynn is just as shocked as I am and we both just give mischievous smiles at each other. The boys jump into the pool with the others again just before a guard comes yelling at them.
Me and Evelynn just burst out laughing. Thankfully the boys are being loud as usual so they don't notice anything. Definitely not me when I sneak out of the room and make my way to the lobby of the hotel.
