Pedri takes me to my room and makes sure I'm okay before he has to leave to help Gavi with filing some kind of complaint about this whole situation. As I step into my room I see Mason hugging Evelynn who's still very upset, but at least she's not crying anymore.

"What did you do? Please tell me you didn't do anything reckless," Evelynn looks at me with tears in her eyes. If my heart didn't break earlier, it's definitely broken now.

"No, don't worry about it. I just cursed them to the lowest pits of hell," I tell her and go sit next to them on the bed. I join their group hug and tell Mason to go. We need some girl time now and I know he has a practice to get to.

When Mason has left I look into Evelynn's eyes and give her a small smile. "I mean I was going to punch their stupid faces but Pedri stopped me. I would've loved to give them all black eyes," I attempt making a joke but she doesn't seem to be in the mood for a laugh.

"I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I should've never left you alone and I'm also sorry for yelling at Gavi. I know he would never hurt you, I can see how much you mean to him," I admit and give her another hug. I would do anything to take her pain away. She's the last person who deserves this kind of shit show.

Mason sends me a quick text between his practices, telling me that England will have a team night today and we're invited as well. Just something to lighten the mood and relax in one of the hotel's conference rooms. Just a little reminder that we've made it this far. It's going to be very casual so we don't need to dress up fancy or anything.

Around lunch time I leave Evelynn to our room while I'll go get some lunch for us. I don't want her to come with me in case we run into some paparazzis or other annoying people who don't mind their own business.

As I get to the lobby I can see that the outside of the hotel is packed with journalists and paparazzis. Great, at least they're not allowed to come inside, so we can hide in here for the rest of our lives.

I grab some lunch from the hotel's breakfast hall, where many teams are currently sitting and eating. They all give me a little side eye, all curious if I'm the girl everyone's talking about. Well they all must be blind because from the picture pretty much everyone could see that the girl was blonde.

Suddenly my phone goes off and so does everyone else's. There's an official announcement from the organisation behind the World Cup. Croatia has been kicked out of the Cup due to violent behaviour. I can't believe it, I knew they couldn't leave the players unpunished, but I didn't expect them to kick out the whole team. Everyone seems to be talking about it and the silence that was before doesn't exist anymore.

I take our food and basically run back to Evelynn. "You are never going to believe what has happened!" I scream as I open the door to our room. Evelynn is still sitting on her bed, but her phone is nowhere to be seen. I hope she turned it off and threw it from the window. I don't want her reading some shitty gossips about her.

I tell Evelynn all about the Croatians getting the boot from the Cup but I'm starting to think it wasn't a good idea as I see her face fall.

"They got kicked out because of me? It's my fault, they shouldn't have-" she starts but I quickly silence her.

"No, do not even try. It's most definitely not your fault that they decided to get violent and they deserved that. That's the least the organisation could do after all this," I reassure her and give her a big hug. She can't be blaming herself for some asshole who decided to slap her. It's their fault that they forgot about football and decided to focus on some gossip.

"Now let's eat and figure out what this 'team night' is all about," I tell her and hand her the takeaway box full of food.
