chapter 44

"So you and Mr. Green eyed dream are going on a date today? Are you sure it's a date, maybe you're just hanging out as friends?" I say to Evelynn with a serious face.

"Omg no, I didn't even think of that! Maybe he thinks that we're still friends, or I-" She goes on before I stop her.

"Oh, will you calm down. I was only teasing! Of course it's a bloody date you dummy!" I almost die out of laughter. Her reaction was worth the teasing.

Evelynn swats me to the arm and tackles me to the bed. "I'm going to kill you Maddy! Never tease me like that again," She rages while I burst out laughing. Evelynn is over the moon for Gavi and it's so obvious. Even Pedri thinks they're cute and a perfect match for each other. She's the only one who has doubts about Gavi's feelings towards her. That's so typical of her.

After breakfast I help her get ready for her first date. Evelynn is having another wardrobe crisis, so I literally have to tell her what to wear. We decide on the pink bikini, that is her favourite, so she feels confident and comfortable. The bikini really suits her newly tanned skin and she puts a light dress over her bikini. She looks absolutely stunning, like someone ready to steal everyone's man on Love Island.

I'm assuming they will go swimming, since Gavi precisely told her to wear a bikini. I hope that's all they're planning on doing. She deserves the best and not only a random hookup on a beach. Am I being an overprotective mum friend? Yes, but it's basically my job, I'm a few months older than her after all.

Something seems to bother Evelynn and I swear if this date goes bad, I will murder Gavi with my bare hands. No one hurts my bestie and lives to see her sad. I try to cheer her up with some jokes and threaten that I'm going to crash her date. She gets absolutely mortified by the idea of me being undercover and stalking her and Gavi. Of course I wouldn't actually do that, maybe?

There's a knock on the door and Evelynn grabs her stuff and opens it. I decide to give them space before stealing the spotlight to lecture Gavi. I do a little wave behind Evelynn and squint my eyes at Gavi.

"I'm keeping an eye on you Gavi. Bring her safely back here and don't make me question why she needs to wear a bikini underneath that dress", I say and cross my hands.

He puts his hands in the air to surrender and tells me that I have no need to worry, that he'll take good care of her. I hope he's right. I mean I trust Gavi, but Evelynn is my best friend so of course I have to threaten her date.

When they've left I receive a text from Lando, telling me that he'll fly to Qatar in a few days to support England. I'm excited about seeing him after such a long time. I went to one of the races after Barcelona, and that's the last time I saw him. We've been texting once a week to update each other about our lives, but he's been more in contact with Mason lately.

I check myself out in the mirror before leaving for Pedri's room. We decided to meet again and do something. He refused to tell me what we're doing or where we're going. So to be safe I decided to wear light beige flowy trousers and a white top. To make the outfit extra cute, I tie some of my hair back with a white bowtie. Now we better be doing something else than laying on his bed.

Gavi's and Pedri's room is one floor below us so I take the elevator to get there. Some players, that I've never seen before, are already in the lift as I step inside. They eye me which just makes me feel uncomfortable. As we arrive at floor 8 the doors open and I see Pedri already waiting for me. I step out of the elevator and just as the doors are about to close, I hear one of the players whistle after me.

"Ay cállate cabrón!" Pedri shouts at them. The look on his face is livid and he gives the middle finger to them. I feel my eyes watering at the humiliation and discomfort they made me feel. Flirting with strangers is one thing, but catcalling and harassing women is untolerable.

When the doors finally close, I run up to him and he pulls me in for a hug. "I'm going to give them a piece of my mind if I ever see them again," He whispers in my hair and hugs me tighter.

"It's okay chiqui, don't let those idiots harass you," He says and gives my temple a light kiss. My heart tugs at the feeling of being safe in his arms.

After we've both calmed down Pedri takes me to his room. "Please tell me you planned something other than chilling in your room," I say and roll my eyes at him. He just laughs and opens the door.

"No te preocupes, I'll just grab something and then we're ready to go," He says and disappears into the room while I just stay and wait in the corridor. A few minutes later he returns with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. The bouquet has light pink roses and peonies, which are my favourite flowers. I don't have to wonder how he knows this, I bet Evelynn told him.

"Are these for me?" I ask him and as he hands the flowers to me.

"Don't be silly chiqui, of course they are for you. Who else?" He says and runs his hands through his hair. "Do you like them? I didn't know which flowers you liked-"

"Oh stop it, I love them. And I'm not stupid, I know Evelynn must've helped you," I say and swat his arm. He doesn't have to lie to me, he got me flowers and that itself is impressive enough.

He just gives me a proud smile and takes my hand. "Now vamos, we have a date to get to."
