The rest of the dinner goes smoothly, except for Evelynn disappearing in the middle and returning with her red lipstick ruined. I can't help but laugh as Mason notices this too and gives Evelynn a wide eyed look. Mason was wrong lecturing me about behaving when the real rule breaker was sitting right next to me all along.

After eating everyone just gets up and starts mingling, that includes me and Evelynn having a mental breakdown in the bathroom.

"Mason is going to kill me! I'm never going to stop hearing about this and he will probably not let me out of his sight for the rest of the tournament," Evelynn cries out and covers her red face with her hands.

"Oh come on, he is not going to do that. Stop worrying, you are a grown woman and you can do exactly as you please," I try to support her while laughing so much that my cheeks start hurting.

After hiding in the bathroom for at least ten minutes, we decide to go to Jude who's currently talking with Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. I try to look for Pedri, but he has apparently disappeared once again.

"Please take care of her while I go and make a phone call," I tell Jude and leave Evelynn to him. I don't actually need to call anyone, I just wanted some time alone. I'm not necessarily trying to look for Pedri, but I wouldn't mind finding and annoying him with the fact that he was late.

I leave the dining room through some backdoor that leads to a long corridor, the perfect place to get some privacy. I decide to walk down the corridor further to avoid running into anyone else. I lean my back against the wall and close my eyes. It's been a hectic few days following the team and I just wish to close my eyes for a few seconds. My newly found peace is soon disturbed by some loud thuds and other weird noises.

As a nosy person, I decide to investigate where those noises are coming from. I turn the corridor only to find the emerald green dressed girl's leg wrapped around some guy she's making out with. "You see Mason, you had nothing to worry about, it seems like I'm the only girl who isn't making out with someone," I think and have a little laugh inside my head.

The girl's eyes lock on mine as she sees me. "Oh I'm sorry, I thought I was alone here. Sorry, I'll just go and find another place," I start apologising.

The making out partner of the girl turns around and my legs feel like they're about to give out. Turns out that Pedri wasn't actually missing, he was sticking his tongue in the blonde girl's throat. Great, this is exactly what I needed today.

I turn around with tears pricking my eyes and start basically running back to the dining room. I hear "Madeline" being called after me, but I'm not stopping. I need to get as far away from him as I can.

I'm not upset about the kissing. Not at all. It's not like we're actually dating or going out or even liking each other. We've made out a couple of times and slept together once, but that's it. It's just that what if our friends would have found him? At least this is what I try to convince myself of.

I grab Evelynn, who can definitely see that something is wrong, and pull her under one of the huge dining tables. I know I'm acting like a child, hiding under a table, but there's no other place to escape to. I pull out a little vodka bottle from my purse and unscrew the cork. There's no alcohol being served here, as it is a sports event, so I came prepared. You never know when you need a little drink, right? Not very graceful I know, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

"What happened?" Evelynn asks me, but I just shove the vodka bottle at her. She refuses and I take another shot.

"I don't want to talk about it, can we just talk about something else?" I beg her, almost crying.

Evelynn takes the warning and starts talking about how Mason was messing around with the other players a while ago. She makes me laugh a bit and I start feeling lighter every second. It could also be because of the vodka, but mostly because of her.

We end up spending half an hour under the table just laughing and drinking, until someone's face peeps under the table cloth. Of course Lady Luck is on my side once again, and it's no one but the tongue shoving man himself.

"Hello Mr. I am here to ruin everyone's day! ¿Cómo estás?" I ask him, flashing him a sarcastic smile, realising that I'm drunk. Great. Now I somehow need to leave this room without anyone, especially my brother, realising that I'm wasted.

He looks at Evelynn who just shrugs at him. She really has no idea what's going on. Pedri decides to do the unthinkable and grabs my hand. He pulls me out of my hiding spot and lifts me up before I have a chance to protest. He takes a firm hold of my waist and starts walking me towards the doors. To my luck, everyone is so focused on someone giving a speech on the other side of the room, so no one notices him hauling me out of the room.

"Oh will you let go of me! The other girl might have liked your hands all over her, but I don't," I protest quietly.

"I'm taking you home. I'd suggest not making a scene," He whispers to my ear and we escape the room.

Real graceful of you Madeline Mount, now you seem like an alcoholic who drowns her boy sorrows in cheap vodka. Everyone, including yourself, is so proud of you.
