Making Up

There is always an awkwardness when purchasing from a liquor store. It's like everyone in line is silently judging others based on what they like to drink. Their judging eyes are always the hardest to get past. You want to explain why you drink what you got, but you also don't want to sound like an idiot for rambling. However, this is Momo's drink of choice lately. Cass Fresh.

Once she is all checked out, she hops into her car and drives back to her apartment. Her phone rings while she is in the elevator headed to her floor. It's Nayeon.

"What's up?"

"Come down to my bar tonight. I got one of the most popular DJs and trust me, you don't want to miss out."

"I have plans," Momo mumbles.

Nayeon sighs. She knows that it's a gamble to call Momo, but it's still worth a try. She misses the girl.

"Look, I know you're still in a slump over what happened, but I think it would do you some good to come out and hang with everyone," Nayeon says with a sigh.

This time, she won't give up making Momo show her face. She hates seeing Momo like this, even if what happened was technically Momo's own fault.

"Besides, I would rather you stop drinking that cheap stuff you buy and drink the top shelf bottles I have instead. You know you can have whatever you want."

It's true. Momo knows that she can always go to Nayeon's bar and have whatever she wants. She may not understand why she always chooses to buy the cheaper liquor, but at the same time, she doesn't feel the need to explain herself. She likes the taste, after all.

Holding the bottle in her hand, she smiles at Nayeon's kindness. "I really don't feel like talking to anyone. Besides, we won't even be able to talk much with how busy you will be."

Momo feels bad for rejecting Nayeon. It has been two months since everything happened, but to her, it's all still fresh. She just doesn't feel like entertaining anyone right now. There is only one place she wants to be in, a significant person's arms, but she knows that it's not possible anymore.

Nayeon feigns sadness. "Alright. I guess I'll just stop asking then. Maybe it's time for me to find another best friend. Hopefully they can dance well too."

Momo chuckles. She knows Nayeon only means well, but Momo isn't up for putting on a fake smile. Although, then again, maybe if she goes out, Nayeon will stop asking for a while. By this time, Momo has put her liquor in the designated cabinet and is now sitting on her kitchen island. Maybe going out just this once won't be so bad. That's what she hopes at least.

"So all I'm good for is my dancing skills? Throughout our eight year friendship you've been using me for my dancing?" Momo says in a lighthearted tone and they both start laughing together. "Alright, fine. I'll come. But I'm not staying long. Just a drink or two and then I'm leaving."

"Hell yeah!" Nayeon exclaims. "You're gonna have a good time, I promise."

Even though Nayeon can't see her, Momo rolls her eyes. "Yeah yeah, see you later."

With that, they hang up the phone. Looking up at the clock on the stove, it's only just turning eight o'clock. She has plenty of time to get ready and pick out an outfit.

Two and a half hours later, there is a loud banging on Momo's door. She must have not gotten there quick enough for Nayeon's liking because the banging comes in a rapid series once again.

Swinging open the door with a look that could kill, Momo starts to yell. "What the hell do—"

"Hey there, unnie! We came to pick you up," Chaeyoung says happily.
