Dahyun stares at the bright pink nail polish that is on her nails. She isn't very fond of the color, but seeing the contentment on Momo's face makes her smile.
"Do you like it?" Momo asks. She closes the bottle and sets it aside. "I tried my best."
"I love it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I don't normally paint them pink. I like it," Dahyun says with a big smile on her face. She swiftly pulls out a white nail polish bottle out of the pocket of her sweatpants. "Now it's your turn."
Momo laughs at the sudden surprise. She knew that Dahyun would find a way to return the favor. That is one of her favorite qualities about her girlfriend.
Dahyun places Momo's left hand on her left knee and her right hand on her right knee. She starts with the left one first. She takes the cap off and takes the brush in her hand.
"I've never painted someone else's nails before, I might mess up," she mumbles.
"It's okay, it doesn't need to be perfect," Momo reassures, caressing Dahyun's face with her free hand. "Besides, my work isn't the best either."
Dahyun giggles and then switches to a more focused look, wanting her first stroke on the first nail to be perfect. Her eyes follow the brush closely, the white paint covering up Momo's nail. She dips the brush in the nail polish for a new coat and begins the second stroke. She starts slowly like before, only this time the paint goes onto Momo's skin.
Dahyun groans in annoyance. "Damnit."
"It's okay, just continue," Momo quickly says. She puts a few strands of Dahyun's loose hair behind her ear to see more of her face. "Don't get frustrated, we can clean it up later."
Dahyun nods and continues just like Momo said. She finishes the second finger minutes later, sighing in relief that she didn't mess up again. She has three fingers left and a total of eight if Momo's bare right hand is included.
Momo clears her throat. "Wanna know something I love about you, Dahyuni?"
Dahyun hums in response as she is still focused on her task.
"Your determination. When you're singing or dancing, or even doing the simplest tasks like painting your girlfriend's nails." Momo lifts the girl's chin with her finger. "What i'm saying is, I love it. I love it all and I love you."
Dahyun bites her bottom lip to suppress a smile, but she fails, showing a big and cheeky one. "I love you too, honey."
She keeps smiling because that's all she can currently do with Momo looking at her the way she is looking at her. Taking in the words that came out of the girl's mouth, she lets out a breath and returns to her task.
Soon enough, Dahyun successfully finishes both of Momo's hands. The ceiling light makes the polish look glossier than it is, which makes Dahyun happy. She thinks she actually did a pretty decent job, she is proud of herself.
Momo grabs Dahyun's hand. "Thank you, baby."
Dahyun blushes at the sound her pet name. It always catches her off guard whenever Momo says it without a warning. It's not like a warning is needed, though. The only problem is the way her cheeks turn a rosy red within seconds and flowers bloom in her stomach, brightening her soul with their colors. No one else can call her that name, just Momo.
"It's the least I could do for my wonderful girlfriend." Dahyun replies, holding up Momo's hand to her lips and kissing it. "I wouldn't trade this moment for anything in the world."
"So romantic." Momo giggles.
When Momo laughs, it's like music to Dahyun's ears. She can't help but stop whatever she's doing and freeze to just watch the girl's face light up. There's something in the way Momo's cheeks lift and lines appear on the side of her lips. Then there are the lips themselves, which Dahyun can never take her eyes off of anyway, no matter the occasion. Whenever she looks at Momo's lips, there's always something special that comes to her mind.
Their first kiss has to occur in a moment that is not like the others. The moment has to be intimate, something that is worth the first kiss. Dahyun often daydreams about Momo's lips. How they taste, how they feel, and other fantasies she wants to experience. The problem is that she never really knows where to start.
"We should take a picture," Dahyun says, getting up from the floor.
Momo tilts her head in confusion. "Of our hands?"
"No, our legs," Dahyun shuffles towards the bookshelf and grabs their polaroid camera, "Obviously I mean our hands, stupid."
"I dont know, you normally don't like taking pictures like that," Momo mumbles.
Dahyun sits back down next to Momo. They flex their hands out and make a heart together Dahyun takes one last glance at the display to make sure that it's at the right angle. Then, she snaps the picture.
They wait a few minutes for the polaroid to turn visible while Dahyun shakes it around. Momo sets the camera aside and folds her hands in her lap, patiently waiting for the picture. Once Dahyun thinks that she is done flapping it around, she looks at it and smiles.
"Let me see," Momo says and snatches the photo from Dahyun's hand. She pouts her lips in awe. "You know what's the best thing about taking pictures?"
"What?"
"Taking them with your lover." Momo leans in and kisses Dahyun's cheek.
Instead of getting all flustered and shy, Dahyun realizes that this is the moment to take the next step. She's sure that they would probably get another chance in the future, but she can't wait any longer. So, she reaches for Momo's face and kisses her right on the lips. Just like she has always imagined, the girl's lips are soft and taste sweet. It truly is the most incredible feeling in the world.
"The best thing about taking pictures for me is knowing that I'm yours and you are mine," Dahyun explains, "And that nothing feels better than when you're next to me."
Momo's eyes get teary within seconds and she places her hands on the ones on her cheeks. "Kiss me again, please."
