Good Job Kid Ch. 23

After closing his eyes, and opening them again, Killua was gone. He was satisfied with the results of the visit, and made his was back to his room to get some sleep. He changed and got under the covers immediately being grabbed by Gon, and pulled into his chest. He just snuggled closer, enjoying his company. Happy and Content he drifted into unconsciousness with Gon by his side.

The next morning was calmer then the last. The boys stayed in their own rooms, and had nice breakfasts. Today was Gon's fight with Sadaso. After breakfast he was running around the room to get ready because he took longer then he had meant to and was running late. Killua was just trying to hold himself together watching the scene unfold. Every time Gon had tried to ask why he was laughing, he just brushed it off saying it was nothing. When Gon had finally made it to the arena he, along with the rest of the audience, were confused where Sadaso was, seeing as he was the one who challenged him. When he didn't show and in turn forfeited the match Gon suspected that Killua had something to do with it. When he left the arena he just rolled his eyes "I figured you had something to do with this", his suspicions were confirmed when he saw a cat like grin on Killua's face. He just snickered,"I couldn't possibly know what you're talking about" The two laughed as they made their way to get a bite to eat.

About a week had passed since then, and it was time for Killua's fight with Riehlvelt. He walked into the arena to see that his opponent was already there. The minute the ref. gave the go ahead, Killua began to walk towards Riehlvelt who in turn detached two whips from his wheelchair. They moved with great speed and power, but they weren't fast enough. Killua continued to dodge the whips as he got closer to his opponent who was growing more nervous by the second. He sent what seemed like one last big movement towards Killua. But killua was still faster, catching the whips in both hands and smirking, taunting his opponent. Riehlvelt wasn't done yet, the whips in Killua's hands came to life and bit him. Riehlvelt turned around and sent electricity flying through the whips, shocking Killua. He started to laugh thinking that he'd won, but when he looked back in Killua's direction not only was he still standing, but he was staring straight at him with no expression on his face. Without warning Riehlvelt was being thrown onto the air "A FALL FROM THAT HEIGHT WILL KILL YOU! SO, DO YOU WANT ME TO CATCH YOU OR NOT?!" When Riehlvelt looked back at killua he saw that his snakes were still attached and Killua had no intention of turning them off. "YES FINE CATCH ME!!" He yelled down, trying to mentally prepare himself for what was about to happen. As he landed in Killua's arms his body was wracked with pain as electricity coursed through his veins, efficiently taking away his ability to move. He had heard Killua be announced the winner and him say "Man now you know what it feels like. Just because I can stand it doesn't mean I enjoy it." before passing out.

After Killua had uttered those words, his opponent passed out. Before he could do anything else, he felt himself being lifted in the air. He looked down to see himself sitting on Katsuki's shoulder, being supported by his arm. "Good job kid" he said, his tone laced with excitement and Shoto giving him a gentle but proud smile. Killua almost started crying from how happy the moment made him. The victory itself wasn't anything special, but the words of encouragement meant the world to him, even if it was for such and easy and mundane task. He was never praised for anything he did until he'd met Gon. Even still his praise was different. When it came from Katsuki and Shoto, it felt like he was finally getting the parental love and praise he's missed out on.

They all went to the top of heaven's arena and sat down enjoying a nice picnic that Katsuki had prepared. The view of the bustling city below adding to the serenity of it all. It was a perfect way to end their day. They all went to bed with full stomachs and still minds. They new they couldn't stay here for much longer, just enough for Gon to fight Hisoka. Until then though, they would enjoy it as much as they can.
