I watched him play for another hour and a half, after their trainer had split up their team into two for them to simulate a real game.
At around eight p.m., they wrapped it up then. Jude walked over to me so we could walk a little further behind everyone, before giving me his car keys so that I could wait in it for him.
He pressed a quick kiss to my cheek before disappearing in the locker room, me making my way through the hallway to reach the exit at the end of it.
"Tiana, is it?" A voice suddenly called out, making me whip my head around to make eye contact with Jude's trainer who was currently walking towards me.
He looked a little intimidating, his pace being quite fast as if he were to jump me at any second now.
"Uh, yes?" I replied a little unsure, halting in my steps at the door which would lead outside.
I wasn't really sure how he knew my name since we never talked and I wasn't popular anywhere else too, but whatever.
"You're Jude's girlfriend, right?" He asked, now standing like a meter in front of me.
I nodded with a tight lipped smile; this was awkward. It almost felt like meeting a parent for the first time.
"I'm Edin Terzić, his coach." He held his hand out for me to shake, which I did with a polite smile.
"I hope there's no problem with me being here from time to time," I then blurted out as I suddenly felt the need to get his allowance, "and I'm also sorry if I caused any trouble back at that game."
His brows shot up in what appeared to be surprise. "Oh, no no, it's alright. As long as he keeps playing as good as of right now, there's absolutely no reason to complain." He joked, making me laugh a little awkward; because what was that even supposed to mean?
"Yeah, he's great." I agreed, not wanting the conversation to die down because it was already uncomfortable enough. It's not that I like, didn't like him, but he was just really intimidating since he was Jude's superior and I didn't want to mess up and leave a bad impression by saying something unthoughtful.
"Do you play?" He suddenly asked, catching me a bit off guard as I awkwardly shifted from one leg to another and back.
"Oh, i used to, but I had to quit." I explained shortly; no need to give him the details of why I had quit.
The truth is that I had quit because of Alex, because he didn't like me playing football as a hobby. I had played in a mixed team, with more boys than girls and he hadn't been too fond of that. He also said that the sport was too 'manly' for me to play. And me being me back then, I of course had listened.
"A shame." He commented, making me nod. Luckily Jude saved us any more awkward laughter or failed attempts in trying to find a conversation topic that interested the both of us, his figure appearing behind Terzić as he trudged our way.
He sent me a confused look, before acknowledging his trainer with a nod of his head.
"You good to leave?" He asked, making me nod as well before returning my attention to the man still standing in front of us.
"It was nice meeting you, Mr. Terzić." I sent him a warm smile, making him return it.
"You too." He replied, eyes diverting to Jude now. "See you bright and early tomorrow, Bellingham."
They said goodbye as well, Jude and me leaving for his car to drive home. Since it was Monday, he actually had to take me back to my house.
"What did you two talk about?" Jude spoke up, making me chuckle at how confusing it must've looked to him.
"You." I shrugged; there wasn't much else we could've talked about anyways.
"Ugh, you just won't shut up about me, will you?" He sighed dramatically, making me reply with a sarcastic 'ha-ha'.
"Was he as scary as you thought he'd be?" He further inquired, turning down the volume of the music a bit to make it more comfortable to talk.
"No, he was weirdly nice." I stated honestly; I hadn't expected him to be so easy going. He was still irritating though, simply because of the aura of superiority he radiated.
"See, no one thinks you're annoying." He assured, taking away my absurd worries I had.
"Gio thinks I'm annoying." I pointed out, remembering the time he audibly sighed when he left their locker room after a training session and saw me waiting for Jude again.
I didn't take it seriously though, I know that was just his way of humorously messing with me.
"Gio's jealous that he can't have me all to himself." Jude joked, letting his ego get the best of him again which made me roll my eyes.
"Sure, yeah." I said, "hey do you think your coach will decapitate me if I post this?"
I held my phone in his line of vision, him quickly glancing at it before focusing on the traffic again.
"Maybe." He replied with a subtle smirk on his lips.
"That's not a yes." I shrugged, adding the picture to my story nonetheless.
Maybe I was obsessed with him, but to be fair, who wouldn't be?
