Saturday, 18th of April
I leaned slightly over the countertop of the sink, one hand stabilizing myself while the other touched up my lipgloss - or at least tried to. It was hard not to over line when my hand was shaking like that.
A woman in a navy blue sparkly dress walked in through the door to my right, giving me a brief smile through the reflection of the mirror, which I returned.
I briefly fixed my hair and my backless red dress and then simply stood there, trying to calm my nerves before I had to get back out there.
Back to the cameras and back to the strangers. It freaked me out a bit, considering this was my first time being in the view of the public eye, but I was gonna get over it. At least I didn't have to talk that much. Yet.
I just had to keep it down and avoid doing something that people could potentially talk shit about.
"You're so gorgeous." A soft voice suddenly commenting made me jump a bit, my hand flying up to my chest before making eye contact with the woman from before through the mirror as she walked up to the sink next to me to wash her hands.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you like that." She chuckled a little as she also retrieved a lipstick from her purse.
"Oh no it's fine, I was just a little caught up in my own anxiety thoughts." I replied, accidentally telling her a bit too much due to my nervousness. "Uh, thanks by the way, I love your dress."
"Thank you." She smiled and finished to retouch her make up. "First time?"
I nodded, guessing that she was referring to this whole charity event thing. "I'm Tiana." I held out my hand, which she gladly shook.
"Cathy." Wait.
"Hummels?" I asked a little perplexed, making her nod briefly.
"You're Jude's girlfriend, right?" I nodded again, "nice guy. He's lucky." She smiled warmly at me, making me laugh a little.
Apropos Jude. "Oh, i should probably get back to him. He's been waiting for me outside." I said as I pointed to the door behind me.
"You should probably do that, yes." She giggled and we both started our way back into the main room of the venue.
"Oh and Tiana-" she gently grabbed my wrist before we reached the end of the corridor, making me turn around to look at her, "- take it easy. Just relax and have a little fun, okay?"
"Okay." I smiled at her appreciatively before we both stepped back into the main area of the event, where the big hall-like room was filled with people in fancy attire with champagne filled glasses in their hands.
I spotted Jude where I left him when I had gone to the bathroom practically as soon as we had gotten here, leaning against the wall while he seemed to talk to someone on the phone.
He didn't notice me until I stood directly in front of him; him holding out the purse he had been holding for me.
I took it from him and stuffed my lipgloss back in there as I waited for him to end the call; which he did after another minute, his expression being slightly annoyed.
"Something's wrong?" I asked, making him shake his head.
"Nah, Jobe was just asking where I keep my money because he wanted to order food or whatever, and then he was being a bitch about me not keeping any in my apartment." He explained, which made the corners of my mouth curve upwards slightly.
"You can tell him to take mine, I think I have a few euros in the pocket of my jacket hanging in your wardrobe." I offered, but he shook his head again, brows furrowed.
"He has his own money, he's just greedy." He scoffed before pushing himself off the wall and guiding me along with him by his hand on the small of my back.
He walked me back to the table we shared with Gio, Karim and their plus ones, all of them deep into a conversation about a after party?
"Are y'all coming?" Gio asked, looking between me and Jude.
"Coming where?" I asked confusedly, making Karim speak up before Gio could reply something sarcastic again. Although I wouldn't have minded to hear that, at least it would've been an excuse to bitch with him.
"A club. This is only until like eleven."
"Sure. If he wants to go." I point at my boyfriend next to me, who seems to be arguing with Jobe via text again.
"Jude, mate." Gio groaned, making him look back up at the group with a questioning look.
"Do you wanna go?" I asked, eyes flickering between his and his phone. I'd die to read what they were bickering about this time.
"Yeah, why not." He replied shortly, before noticing my continuous glances at his phone screen and handing me the phone to read their chat.
