and as he crumbled, she was the first to his side. much like she was the first to jump into the water after him. she  wished she hadn't stripped into the spaghetti strap and still had her shirt. use it to cover his wounds.

"piper. i'm fine." he grunted, covering the wounds from her sight with his hand. but even a blind man could sense the blood. even the air had a metal scent to it.

"steve." she cried. her hands lay on his chest. they were mere inches between them. worry looked cute on her, he noted. her face was filled with the god awful emotion, the one he hated. but yet she still looked so pretty. her eyebrows were wrinkled, eyes soft yet glistened and her lips were downward into the frown he ever so hated. he hated when she frowned, he liked her smile.

"i'll be okay." he mumbled as she helped him fall down the stone. she helped him sit and nancy started tearing strips of her jumper.

"so the good news here is i'm pretty sure wooziness is not a symptom of rabies. but if you start having hallucinations or muscle spasms. or you start feeling really aggressive like you wanna punch me, let me know.'' robin rambled as she kneeled beside the two.

"robin?" he mumbled, grunting in pain as piper slowly dipped her fingers in the flesh around his wound. trying to decipher if an infection would spread. if there was one.

"yeah?"

"i kinda wanna punch you." he grinned ever so slightly, which soon disappeared as he cried in pain. cold fingers against the warm bite.

"sense of humour still intact, that's a good sign."

"piper, grab his back whilst i wrap." nancy ordered and the girl nodded, shimming behind steve as he kneeled. he felt the shiver run down his spine as he felt her breath against his bareback, her hands wrapping around his torso almost as if she were hugging him. and nancy slowly wrapped the makeshift bandage around his hips. the boy cried out as the material touched the open flesh. whimpering and whining as he grabbed piper's hand that rested on his chest. squeezing it lightly. nancy was quick with it, tying it and leaving the two. piper's touch moved from his chest and he was forced to let go of her hand as she shuffled to sit in front of him. allowing him to lean back against the rock as eddie climbed some trees to examine their location.

"so uh this place is like hawkins but with monsters and nasty sit." he questioned looking out into the woods. turning back to find piper pulling steve from the ground.

"pretty much.'' nancy mumbled as she helped piper, noticing the girl struggling. leading the boy to lean against a tree. piper's arm was wrapped around his waist as he tried to use his strength to stand.

"wait, watch out for the vines. it's all a hive mind." she cried, watching as eddie went to just walk across them. not bothering to watch where he's going. he looked up at nancy, brow curved in confusion.

"all a what?" he questioned.

"all the creepy crawlies around here dude. they're like, one or something. you step on a vine, you're stepping on a bat, you're stepping on vecna." steve explained, itching at the skin of his chest when piper swatted his hand away.

"but everything from our world is still here, right? except people?" robin inquired as she looked out into the woods around here.

"as far as i understand it, yeah."

"so theoretically we could go to the police station and steal guns, grenades and whatever we need to blow up those bat things that are guarding the gate."

"i hardly doubt that the hawkins pd has grenades, robin. but guns, yeah sure."

"we don't have to go all the way downtown for guns. i have guns in my bedroom."

"that's hot." piper mumbled, walking away from steve as he now stood alone.

"you, nancy wheeler, have guns. plural, in your bedroom.'' eddie spoke as he fully jumped off the rock, making sure not to step on anything that wasn't the ground. he now opted for not going near the rocks. cause what if it were some kind of creature in disguise.

"full of surprises, isn't she?"

"a russian makarov and a revolver."

"yeah, you almost shot me with that one."

"you almost deserved it."

"are you two done yet?" piper spoke and eddie threw his denim jacket at steve, stopping the two from staring at one another when he noticed the look upon piper's face. jealously.

"for your modesty dude." he snarled, and she scoffed. as if. steven harrington have modesty, right. and the ground below them began to shake. robin grabbing the closest person, who happened to be piper and dragged her towards her. the two were almost thrown to the ground by eddie as the loud screeches of bats came from the sky above. piper not even bothering to look over at nancy and steve. already knowing he'd have her hugged to his chest. she could imagine his hand on her waist, his chest against her back. she felt sick.

"yeah so guns seem like a pretty good idea.'' eddie whispered as the moment passed, his hand on piper's arm as he sat up. realising he had crushed the two girls to the floor. they began to stand. robin shrugged her shirt off for piper.

"he keeps looking." she mumbled and piper grew even more sick. she wasn't sure which one she was talking about but she was fast to button the shirt up. the air was thick and cold. like she was in some kind of iced land. everything was so cold, the flicker of pain tickled at her hip. it was in here, somewhere. she could feel it, like a deep withering thorn from a rose. it was like a parasite, she wondered if it would ever leave her. she wanted nothing more than to be at home, in her bed. watching a movie, most likely with max wondering when el would call again. in fact, she wished she was anywhere but here right now. she regretted a lot of things in her life but diving into lovers lake after steve harrington was now atop of her list of things.
