life was returning to normal, like the mall incident that never happened. like she didn't almost bleed out to death in a secret russian base below the mall. el and max appeared at the parker household that often that now mary would already have food stocked for the two girls. the three girls could be found in piper's room, watching a blurry movie shovelling crisps, sweets and just pure junk food in their mouths. it would make mary laugh when she would find the three cuddled up on the bed, packets littering the floor as they snored their heads off.
but mary would often find the presence of a car outside, and a boy sat waiting. but never for piper, he was waiting for himself. she would watch from the window as he would try and pluck enough courage to come see her. but that knock at the door never came. until it finally did, and he stood there. in all his glory, like he used to do. his hair was still as poofyas before, he looked the same, but mary knew he had changed. and he held a big bouquet of flowers. tulips, they were red tulips.
"piper!" her mother shouted, the girl who sat crossed legged in paint covered clothes on the floor looked up from the painting she was doing.
"yeah?" she shouted, but of course her mother never replied. the girl grumbled to herself as she picked herself from the floor, hearing her bones crack as she did. finding ehr mum stood at an open door. and that's when she spotted steve. a bouquet of flowers and cleanly dressed.
"steve?" she questioned rushing over to the door, not bothered about the fact that they were paint on her face.
"piper, can i take you out?" he questioned, the nervous sweat lingering on his brow. eyes flickering around. it was cute.
"where are we going?" she asked, raising a brow at the boy, who merely smiled.
"just on an adventure."
"let me get changed." she grinned, running off into her room as mary invited him inside so he wouldn't have to stand in the street alone. and ten minutes later she appeared in a pair of clean jeans and a striped top. and the paint had been washed from her face.
"these are for you." he smiled, holding the bouquet out for her, watching the smile lit up her face. that glow in her eye he adored so much.
"tulis, nice touch." she glowed, her mother taking the flowers to a vase in the kitchen.
"not all useless." he laughed, and even mary chuckled as she walked into the kitchen with the flowers. trying to find a vase for them. hearing the door open as he motioned for her to follow him to his car.
"okay, back by 11 harrington. and remember to wrap it." her mum shouted, piper's eyes bulged from her head immediately. ure shock written on her face.
"mum!'' piper screamed in disbelief, pushing steve out of the door. the boy's laughter followed.
"love you." her mother shouted from the kitchen as the girl went to shut the front door.
"i love you too." she shouted back before joining the boy in the car, he was holding the door open. he was so cute.
"milady." he chuckled, the girl leaning to press a kiss to his cheek as she climbed inside. his cheeks flamed red as he got in the driver's seat.
"so, i'm thinking. a dirty burger?" he stated, pressing the button on his radio. music playing softly from the speakers.
"you amaze me steven." and he only laughed, a loud roar coming from the engine as he sped down the street. driving up to the diner. the boy leaping out of his seat as she went to open her door. opening it for her, holding his hand out. the girl took it with a smile. letting him pull her from the car. yet he didn't let her hand go, instead. looping his fingers with her own. his unusually warm touch. it was warming, calming if you will. and so was the diner. the lights were dimmed, due to the sun which would soon set over hawkins. he led her towards a booth. as a waiter walked over to the pair. a look of shock painted on their face. she clearly recognized the two, it was weird. but she hid it as she asked for their order.
"a dirty burger and some curly fries, right?" he questioned reading the menu, even though he already knew their order.of course he did. turning to look at her with a smug look. that bastard.
"know me so well." sh comment, snatching the menu as she glazed over their drinks selection.
"and i'll have the new coke-'' he was quick ro add as the person wrote it down for them.
"and i'll have a banana shake."she said as they noted, disappearing back to the counter. and the two turned to one another, bickering about the kids. how they were all dealing with things.
"honestly, they make me feel like such a-"
"mother? aha max told me. even suggested that i was dad."
"that's so unfair. fitting but unfair." he commented, crossing his arms as he sluked into the chair before their food came over. and he was quick to bolt up in his chair. taking his dirty burger from the women. before chewing into it before she could even place their drinks down."you are fuking dsgusting." she grimaced, face twisted in disgust as she looked at him eating. swallowing it whole as if he were a dog. the waiter walked back over to the counter.
"jess, jess. remember harrington. that's the girl he used to be friends with, right?" the girl whisper shouted asking the girl working on the bar. who was making herself a cup of coffee when her friend sam shouted at her. turning to look at the couple who were eating.
"oh yeah, that parker girl. didn't know she was talking to him again. oh my god, are they on a date?" she mumbled, taking a sip of her coffee as sam started pulling herself a can out the freezer.
"i think so." she added, reaching for the new coke. it was currently her new favourite drink.
"they're kind of cute together actually.'' jess mumbled watching as the pair laughed. watching piper throw a curly fry at the boy. watching as he laughed as it hit his cheek. they were very cute.
"yeah, they are." she stated.
