You were never awake before 10am on a Saturday, but Ajax needed your help so you forced yourself out of bed and brought all of your makeup to his dorm to get him ready for the Poe cup.

‘’Xavier is good at this, but I’m not an artistic genius,’’ he said while you painted his face white with a sponge, slowly turning him into a jester.

Your makeup bag was spilled on the table, a mix of regular makeup and face paints scattered on the surface.

‘’Lucky for you, last year for Halloween, I did all of Ophelia Hall’s makeup.’’

Ajax smiled, proud of his artistic girlfriend.

After you were finished with the white paint, you got to the eyes, using a black cream base, smudging it like Heath Ledger’s joker and setting with a powder, then moved to the dark teal lines on top and bottom of his eyes, but Ajax began shifting and scrunching his nose.

‘’Quit moving. It’s hard for me to make straight lines,’’ you said, trying to concentrate on the lines.

Teal was not a color that’s easy to remove if you mess up and you didn’t have time to start over in case of a mess up. You only had twenty minutes left before all teams needed to be in their boats. If Ajax was late, Xavier and his competitive side would be mad at you.

‘’But my nose is itching,’’ Ajax whined, scrunching it again.

You couldn’t blame him. Face paint was known to be uncomfortable when it dries. Cinema grade makeup doesn’t have that itchy feeling, but unfortunately you weren’t rich enough to replace all of your Snazaroo paints.

‘’I know. I’m sorry, baby.’’ You rubbed his shoulder with an apologetic pout, unable to touch his face. ‘’I’m almost done. Let me finish this one eye and then I’ll do the mouth.’’

Ajax sighed in his seat, but nodded.

Before you got started on his huge smile and pointed teeth, you willed a kiss from him.

‘’Can I have one last kiss before I do your mouth?’’ He happily obliged, sealing your lips together into a sweet kiss. ‘’And if you win…my reward still stands,’’ you added with a wink.

Ajax groaned before you, feeling his pants get tighter.
