Roland stood up straight, put his hands behind his back, and cleared his throat.
"I believe we should give her one final chance, one that, should she succeed, would prove that she should join the knights", Roland said as he strolled the room, speaking to them but not at them.
"Why should we give her any other chances?", Edlyn asked.
"Lara is clearly never going to give up if you tell her to, so the only way she will realise that she isnt meant to be a knight is if she witnesses her failing herself", Roland explained as he glanced behind him at Lara, who was glaring at him, this only made him smile.
"He does have a point, some people wont believe anything until they see it for themselves, she wont be able to deny it if its right infront of her", Lehrerin agreed.
"Im literally right here!", Lara exclaimed in frustration.
"Shush, the grown-ups are talking", Edlyn said, she didnt even bother to glance at Lara when she said it.
"Fine whatever, just tell me what the task is so I can prove to you guys that I deserve to be a knight!", Lara demanded.
"Since your in such a hurry than here is my task, find the key and bring it back", Roland stated with a grin.
"What!?", Edlyn exclaimed in confusion.
"That is far too dangerous, you said it yourself, whoever took the key must have been a professional, sending Lara after them could get her seriously hurt", Lehrerin stammered.
"Yeah, Ms. Lehrerin is right, that's too dangerous and difficult, give me something easier", Lara pleaded.
"The life of a knight is full of dangers, you want this life, then you should be prepared for it"
"Okay, but why this mission, isnt there some other problem I can solve, like taking out some goblins or stopping a witch?", Lara asked.
"A true knight cleans up their messes, this is your mess, you should be the one to clean it up"
"Okay fine, but can I atleast have some help, whoever did this is definitely not working alone, so I shouldn't be alone to stop them", Lara added.
"This seams reasonable, but who do you have in mind?"
"Firstly, Silvio"
"Silvio? Your felid friend?", Roland questioned.
"Yes, he is my best friend, I will need him"
"Silvio is not a fighter, he is just here to learn, not go on any dangerous quests, a good friend would never ask this of them", Lehrerin chimed in.
"Well that depends on what Silvio thinks, not you, im not going to force anyone to come with me, I'm asking them"
"Anyone else?", Roland asked.
"Yes, I would also like to have Jiro"
"Who is Jiro?", Roland asked, he could'nt recall any knights with that name.
"Jiro is the elf guy who knocked out the thieves last night"
"That's his name? We questioned him for hours but after the third interrogator left the room scared out of their wits we gave up and threw him in a cell, curiously he didn't put up any fight", Roland recalled.
"Yeah, I dont know anything about him except that he can fight and his name is Jiro, which is more than enough for me"
"I'll allow it, he doesn't seam bad, alright last person, who will it be?"
"Actually I think they are a packaged deal, I'd like to have Kiburi AND Marya"
"The thieves that got you here in the first place?"
"Yes, they said something about them having to make a distraction when I cornered them, so I think they were involved with the thief", Lara explained
"And what makes you think any of these people will be willing to help you?", Ms. Lehrerin asked.
"I was thinking they might be angry that they got arrested by helping whoever this person is, so they may be more forthcoming with details if it means getting vengeance, they are criminals after all", Lara explained further
"I should probably ask if they can be let out as well if we actually manage to get the key, but I think I've bargained too much, I'll just ask later once we find it", Lara thought to herself.
"...", Roland was silent, he thought for a moment, moving his eyes and shaking his head as if he were having a conversation with someone in his head, eventually he nodded and spoke up.
"This seams reasonable, you may have them, I will send Marcus with you to let them out, if any of them escape then that's on you and you will be expected to find the key even in their absence", Roland stated.
"This is outrageous, you cant possibly believe this is a good idea, we should be sending some real knights out there to investigate, not her and abunch of delinquents!", Edlyn exclaimed, exasperated that Roland would even consider this plan.
"Your right Edlyn, I forgot to mention that their will be other people who are actually trained also investigating this situation and looking for the key, which means that if your lead is NOT a lead, then your...well...screwed, pardon my brusque response", Roland said as he got closer to look Lara in the eyes as he said it, his smirk ever present and demeaning.
"Well then I better get started, okay Mark, lets go, I have a key to find!", Lara said as she hastily sped off up the steps.
"This can not go well", Edlyn said as she placed her hands on her head, she was somehow even more stressed than when she found out the key was taken.
"Just give it a chance, im sure Roland knows what he is doing, right Roland?", Lehrerin said as she placed a comforting hand on Edlyn's shoulder.
"You are very right Ms. Lehrerin, I know exactly what I am doing, and have every intent of finding that key". Roland said as he walked off towards the staircase.
