CHAPTER 15
GOODBYE TA'UNUI

Soe'Nae was quiet, hidden beneath the water, eyes locked on a large trap, one large enough to ensnare even the most giant of creatures. She was stooped low, even within the vast ocean, and focused her bow---one that Ao'nung had gifted her the night she learned of her Inkimaya. A young Tsawl'kxa swam a good distance from its mother, the razor sharp teeth of it's breed brandishing in from the sunlight above water.

Young Tsawl'kxa were dangerous. Unlike their adult predecessors, a young Tsawl'kxa never knew when it was full and commonly ate Na'vi from boredom. With their shear size, it wasn't hard---even if they were only a couple years old.

Not yet. Sao'Nae told herself, gripping tightly to her medium sized rock. Not yet.

On her face was a red war-paint, a long line going down her forehead and even down her lips. Her braids were pulled into a ponytail as to not float in front of her and potentially ruin her shot, but she remained goal oriented. Once she saw that the mother fish was turned away from her 'evi, Sao'Nae put her feet against the wall behind her and pushed hard, giving her swift speed in the water and heading head first to the Tsawl'kxa. Once the two were no more than a few feet away from one another in the water, Sao'Nae activated the trap.

She dropped a heavy rock she had strapped to arm and watched as a cage sprung up and cornered the creature. Without a second thought Sao'Nae raised her bow and shot the creature between it's eyes.

Like any mother, the even larger Tsawl'kxa let out a cry upon looking over, watching her baby fall to the floor in the cage.

" Oe irayo narlor swirä. Tsunslu ngeyä vitra run tsurokx ulte slu hapxì te olo'." She signed and thought, her words roughly translating to, I thank you beautiful creature. May your soul find rest and become part of the clan. She reached into the cage with her hand and snatched the bolt out of the animals head, doing it as softly as she could. Now all that was left was the mother.

Like a territorial threat display the mother began running into bits of coral, knocking bits and pieces to the ground and kicking up sand. On the contrary to popular belief, Tsawl'kxa weren't fucking stupid.

Shit! A smoke screen! Sao'Nae screamed in her head, opening the door to the cage where the baby Tsawl'kxa was now resting....permanently? The mother Tsawl'kxa began trying to ram itself into the sides of the wood cage, it's large sharp teeth chewing the entire front in just one bite. Sao'Nae felt her heart race in her chest, reminding herself to calm the hell down before she drowned.

She reached to her hip and grabbed her knife, trusting it forward into the creatures eye, watching blood cloud the water like poison. It was already hard to see, this wasn't helping. The fish shook it's head and tossed the knife to the sand outside the cage, making it impossible for Sao'Nae to retrieve it.

The Tsawl'kxa was a large orange-ish colored fish, with teeth like barbed wire that protruded through it's jaws. It had dark black stripes down it's back, though usually that was reserved for the females. Males were normally smaller and a lot less colorful...

I'm sorry you must die...

Sao'Nae reached her hand back over her shoulder and unsheathed her hand spear, quickly jabbing at the mother's throat whenever she opened her mouth. She was getting closer with each lap of her jaws. Hold your breath, Sao'Nae. She said to her self, demanding to stay clam, forcing herself to be grounded.

The Tsawl'kxa swam away from the cage for a moment, suddenly turning and beginning to swim even faster back towards Sao'Nae, it's mouth dropped open enough to swallow the girl and her cage whole.
