Chapter 29: Spotlight

Soul's POV

"He really wasted millions over this birthday party." Dad chuckled like he's judging the host of the party.

We're walking down the red carpet of the venue. The whole place screams wealth and power.

"You okay, wife?" Damien asked beside me. I'm holding his arm while we're walking.

"Yeah," I answered coldly while observing the place. I'm feeling something.. that this place is familiar even though I haven't been here.

"Just tell me if you want to go home." He said while tapping my hands gently.

Kung may choice lang ako, I wouldn't even attend this party. It's my dad's decision to go here as a family. I suck at social interaction so I really hate crowded places.

There are also reporters here. The Villagracias are well known in politics and business. People can't miss this big event.

Dad's talking to different people, with my mom. Some are business tycoons, past clients, and so on. While I'm just looking around. Trying to be familiar with everyone.

Minutes later, the Governor appeared. He walked the red carpet with her wife. Smiling proudly at everyone. Waving his hand.

I was looking at him intently. He's kind of familiar but not. I'm sure I haven't seen him in personal but he seem so familiar to me.. Or I'm just thinking too much? He resembles Nixen..

I probably just miss her. I sighed.

The reporters flocked at Mr. Villagracia. Nagtagal sila ng ilang minuto. The he went on to talk to some visitors including my father.

He approached us with big smile on his face.

"Maligayang kaarawan, kumpadre." My dad formally greeted him with a handshake.

"Thank you for coming." They shake hands. After the handshake, the man turned to look at me. He smiled at me. Even is smile is very familiar. "I suppose this is your eldest daughter? Very pretty young lady."

I'm wearing a black long gown, backless, with slit on the right side.

"Halata naman yata," my dad answered then laughed.

"It's my genes, Mario." Intrada naman ni mommy. I almost rolled my eyes.

"I need to go, kumpadre, Mrs. Cuesta.." paalam n'ya sa parents ko before turning to me again. "And Miss Cuesta." He said those words with the same tone as someone so close to me.

"He's now an Andrews, kumpadre." Paalala ni daddy bago pa makaalis ang Gobernador.

"My bad," he said and laughed. I looked at Damien. He looked pissed.

"Sir," I called his name before he walked out. Bumaling s'ya sa'kin, still wearing his dashing smile. But before I even speak, bunch of people approached him. Hindi na s'ya nakalapit sa pwesto namin dahil ayaw na siyang pakawalan ng mga kausap.

"Why? Are you close with the Governor?" My father asked while looking at his direction.

Umiling ako, "No, dad." I said timidly. "Excuse me. I'll just use the bathroom." Paalam ko before leaving our table.

Naglakad ako papunta sa bathroom. Pagbukas ko ng pinto ay sakto namang papalabas din ang isang babae. We're both shocked to see each other.

"S-saji.." naibulalas ko nang makita s'ya. She suddenly smirked after recovering from shock.

"Look who's here—the noble Miss Cuesta." She said sarcastically and chuckled.

"Saji, where's Nixen?" I asked in calm tone. Trying to ignore her sarcastic tone.
