Graffiti walls
The night calls
It's time to surrender to the lights
Time to bask in the nightAs the city dances
The windows shaking
The floors are quaking
Nothing feels the same
Because there's only one wayThis city raised me
Taught me how to love myself
How to embrace my heart
And now I've gone so far
So far away from true northThe city is wild and free
This city raised me
And when I reach out my hands
I feel the pulse of its heart
Feeling the song of its soulBillboards lining highways
Passing the byways
Bridge after bridge
Crossing like my soul sings
I see your skyscapers
And know I'm gonna be okaySo many years I've spent here
Mostly in the hospitals, yeah,
But I want to embrace its truth
To seek out the love and warmth
The essence of its heartbeat
One I've felt since I was young
Attuned to something
No one else can see or feelThis city raised me
Yeah, most of my time was spent
Trapped in hospitals
Crossing bridges
Passing bywaysYeah, I may have changed
But this place, my true North,
Has not changed one bit
She always welcomes me
With her open armsThis city has its pulse
That only I can feel
She breathes and sings and dances
She believes, she bleeds
But this city is my true home
Where my heart and soul
Feel most welcome, not ever aloneShe's given me life
The people within saved me
Why can't people see?
This city raised me
I owe her a life-debtBut this city dances, sings, and screams
She believes, she bleeds, she sees
And no matter what,
She is home
