like a bird in her cage

Nothing but debates
Unforgiven words of hate
It's far too late
Nothing will ever be the same

Darkness lurks within your heart and soul
Nothings going to ever change
They threw me in a cell, locked me away
Told me I'd never be okay
Nothing will be the way it was

I want to be free,
I need to fly once more
Like a bird in a cage,
My heart yearns for the sky
And I scream and rage
But unlike a small bird,
Trapped in her cage
I'm not one like her,
No, I'm a phoenix

And I will rise once more
From the ashes trapped in a cage
