A week later

I bolted awake to the sound of Lena's crying. "It's ok I'll get her." Lindsey said reassuringly. "Are you sure?" I croaked. "Of course baby, you just rest." I smiled my thanks and he rolled off the bed to sort her. Moonlight shone on him through the curtains and I watched him gather her into his arms as she weeped. "Hey. Hey there little girl, what's up?" He whispered patting her tiny back. "Ah ok...That." He said sniffing. I snorted.
"I thought you'd gone back to sleep." He said as if I was a naughty school girl. "I was just watching you, you're so good with her Lindsey."
"You're not bad yourself babe, now let me just sort her out." I dozed back off as Lindsey changed Lena, but I stirred as I felt his weight on the bed again. "Say hello mommy. " he said, lifting Lena's tiny hand up to wave at me in the near darkness. I smiled at them both as we lay with her gargling in between us.
"Steph." My lips trembled, trying to hold back my tears. "It's ok, it's ok." He stroked my waist and comforted me for the millionth time that week. "Sorry Linds."
"You've got nothing to be sorry for."
