I smiled to myself as I heard quiet singing from Lena's room- I'd been down in the studio while Stevie had let her family say goodbye to Lena before her nap. My solo album was as good as done but I had no idea what to do with it. Stevie's needed a few weeks of recording to get to the same stage, so on the surface things were fine for the Mac album next year, and Christine was a desperate to get her teeth into it. Though Lena was so young, and me and Stevie needed each other so much, I didn't think I could bear to tour an album alone so soon.

I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child

I looked through the door to see Stevie cradling our daughter as she squealed.

And the child was enough
Enough for me to love

I crept to stand behind them

Enough to love

I harmonised with Stevie. She laughed and turned around, "Hey daddy!" She made Lena wave at me. "Oh hello my little baby girl, how are you doing? Mommy's singing is beautiful, isn't it?" Stevie passed Lena to me and I rocked her as Stevie leant her chin over my shoulder.
"What time are Chris and your mom leaving?" I whispered.
"They've got an hour or so,"she stroked my back.
"I can't believe they hear-"
"Lindsey," she hissed. "Please can we not relive the worst breakfast of my life right now."
"Ok. Ok." I tried not to laugh, and Stevie watched adoringly as I placed the now snoozing Lena into her cot with extreme care.
"I wish you were that gentle with me these days," she said as I rested my hands on her waist, and she balanced her chin on my chest. "I can do anything you want to but..." I lowered my voice, "You told me to fuck you as hard as I could."
"And you certainly did," she licked her lips and tingles grew inside me as she traced a single finger along the waistband above my ass. Her grin faltered and she looked into my eyes with her lips parted. "Oh god they must've heard me say that, oh god." She huffed into my chest as I snorted a little. She moved to glare. "I'm sorry angel, but c'mon..."
She pushed away my hands, whispering "Later."
"Ok," I smiled, running my fingers through her soft hair, "I love you so much you know."
"I know. I love you too."
"I'm just terrified that I'm gonna wake up and this chance we got is gonna be a dream."
"We aren't going anywhere, not ever," She kissed my chest reassuringly. We'd get through this.
