Head in the clouds

It was a rather cloudy day when Dabi decided to leave his hideout again, needing go get some movement back into his body.

The burns on his skin had gotten worse and at this point he didn't even give a fuck anymore, who did he have to look good for? "Hey, where you going?" a familiar female voice caught his attention. Toga peeked from around the corner making him stop for a second. "Can you watch the laptop while I'm away? Blondie might say something important." Dabi grabbed his coat and a mask to cover his face.

"Sure but where are you going?" She asked again and sat down on the couch. Swinging her feet on the table in front of her and grinning like a kid, Dabi just rolled his eyes. "Taking a walk, if he does something inappropriate just look away. Or don't i dont give a shit."

The villain went through the door, leaving Toga by herself in the hideout. He had moved to her location a few days ago after the encounter with Hawks.

"Look away? Bet you don't even do that yourself you pervert..."

So Toga just kept peacefully watching the hero while he was working out again, and this time he was miraculousy wearing a shirt. "He's cute, i wanna cut him..." Maybe an hour or two passed before Dabi finally came back. He raised an eyebrow upon seeing Toga creepily staring at the screen. "Did he say something important?" The villain got her attention. Toga just shook her head and went back to looking at the screen. "He might be doing something inappropriate but i can't tell, the camera doesn't show his bed." The girl grins and rests her head on her hand when Dabi already stole the device and closed it.

"You're boring Dabi, are you gonna at least let me play with him before you kill him?" She lifts the knife in her hand up and makes an awkward cute smile. "Hell no, god protect this guy from your doings..."

How ironic.

He turned his back on her and walked up to a more private room, putting the laptop on his lap now and opening it. He was wondering if the hero was actually doing some things right now, but the screen was empty and no sound was being recorded by the camera. "She was just messin' with me, ha." The villain muttered under his breath when suddenly the camera caught a noise.

It caught him completely off guard.

A quiet moan met his ears and his body froze, what on earth was he supposed to do now? Thank god he got here before Toga could hear any of this. He could have sworn he heard the sheets rustle, but that was it. Dabi clenched his jaw and wished for it to be over, but at the same time he wanted to hear more of it.

Memories of their not so gentle kisses struck his mind and now he almost threw the laptop off himself. "Fucking bastard, go to hell." Never did he realise it's gotten this bad, the want to destroy the blonde hero haunted him day and night. He wanted to grab his throat with both hands and make him stop breathing, then at the same time he felt such a strong attraction it made him frustrated to not be able to touch him right now.

Was this normal?

But there was still something off, it wasn't just the attraction that made him feel like this. It was the fact that Hawks wanted him too. The flashy number two hero wanted him.

"Your lips feel different but i like it."

He would have blushed if he'd been able to, but those feelings are wrong. I have to concentrate or I'll never be able to kill Endeavor, and when this pathetic bird gets in my way, I'll kill him too. I'm gonna burn them to ashes.

When he had calmed down, he started watching the screen again. His emotionless eyes just looking for any usable information. Maybe this would have turned out worse if Hawks could actually be seen in the recording, but well, it was better like this.

...

Another week went by with no contact whatsoever and Hawks drove up to his agency, parking the car and immediately rushing into the building. The war had almost left every house empty. The city looked dead but he knew that someday, everything would be back to normal. "Hawks! Great to see you, your costume just came in are you ready for some action?" His sidekick Meija Mirror went up to him, her loud voice alerting everyone else now too.

"Hawks, please have a talk with us first!" "Wait, you're gonna have to take a look at these forms first!"

The hero just sighs, grabs his sidekick by her arm and runs to the next room. They shut the door behind them and exchange a smile. "Never been more ready, how did they manage the modifications i requested?" The blonde crosses his arms and scans the woman who was just as tall as him. Two sharp mirrors shooting up from behind her ears and her pitch black hair. Her quirk was flashy and outstanding, i mean, isn't it cool to impale your opponent on a sharp mirror shooting out of nowhere?

"So, they did manage it. But you're gonna have to test it very soon to make sure it's working properly." Meija grinned at the hero who was also her boss and now also takes a closer look at him. His wings still looked a little rough but they grew back to their original length, plus the short hair and scar on his face made him even hotter than before. Of course she would never say it out loud though. "Take this box and then you'll be free to go on a test run sir."

She handed him the box with his brand new costume inside and bowed politely before disappearing through the door. Hawks was thankful to have a sidekick like her, she always knew when to leave him be and when to joke around. Because right now? Right now he needed to put his head above the clouds. Nothing was more important than that and so he changed right on the spot.

His costume didn't look much diffrent than before, the only difference was the material and some slight details.

He wanted everything to be fireproof.

First the pants and then the shirt, it felt a little diffrent than before but it wasn't bad. And when he had his jacket on, he also noticed how lightweight it was. Must have changed to the summer costume already, huh? Next was his headphones and the yellow tinted glasses, both of them had more details carved into the design. Just for fun. Also the glasses needed to be shatterproof.

It surely wasn't a good feeling having shards of glass cut his face, after Dabi had stepped on his head trying to crush them. His heartrate went up together with his excitement, fully in his hero costume now he stepped out of the room and was greeted once again by his sidekicks now staring at him.

"Now if you excuse me, I'll be on the rooftop. I'll patrol till midnight so hit me up with work anytime!" He tried to hide the smile on his face but the others knew already. "Hawks will be up in the air today, drinks on me tonight!" They yelled and now Hawks snickered to himself. "On me little guy, you know where!" He waved at them, fulfilled with the feeling of the amazing work environment he build. They must have worked their butts off while i was gone, one night of party won't be too bad...

Nobody stopped him on his way to the elevator and when he went inside, his wings pushed the other people in there against the wall. Proudly raising his chin he stepped out on the highest floor and walked up to the edge, correctly putting on his headphones now. The wind fluttered around his jacket and wings, making him feel more alive then ever. I guess it's finally time huh?

His gaze went down onto the empty streets while he stretched out his wings slighly, then he just let himself fall as if he'd never come back up.

Seconds passed until he could fully extend his bright red wings and forcefully drift through the airways for the first time in weeks.

This is it, this is what i live for.
