"You could really pass as a straight dude man!" Her words just hung in the air for a moment.

Mirko had just thoughtlessly thrown that into the room but shortly after the room fell dead silent. The bunny hero broke out in a cold sweat when she saw Hawks rest both arms on the table and cover his face in annoyance. 

You're so dead.

All eyes switched to the blonde hero veeeery slowly and no one really wanted to break the silence. It was a rather uncomfortable tension lingering in the air only broken by Mirko standing up in panic and bowing in a 90 degree angle. 

"I am so sorry, it just slipped! Oh my god..." she couldn't believe she just outed a friend and nearly went on her knees to apologize. Aizawa and Present mic seemed a little suprised, but not as shocked as Nezu who again, just stares at the number two hero. Hawks couldn't help but snap at him a little.

"Oh don't be so shocked Nezu, you're literally a mouse." he rolls his eyes and within the next second the heroes broke out in laughter again. Only Aizawa looked at him for a moment longer than needed.

The tension faded away and the wing hero could relax again, still eying Mirko in annoyance. He continued "So, now you know?" and the first to answer was Aizawa surprisingly "Don't worry, no one really cares. Your little fans might but we don't mind." the underground hero sighs and goes to fill his cup with tea one more time. Wow, he drinks a lot of tea.

"Especially I don't, I'm not straight myself."

So now the attention shifts from Hawks to Aizawa, the blonde scans him up and down with both eyes wide open and the rest? Mirko and Present Mic sat there in shock and you could guess Nezus reaction. Just sitting there frozen in place. It was truly a surprise to all.

Mirko exchanged looks with Present mic and sat back down. "That's really unexpected, wow." Yamada followed it up with "I mean, I could see Hawks be interested in men but you? Why did you never tell me?" he asked his best friend with a confused expression. Hmm, that's true. But I get that, as a gay person you never feel completely safe in Japan.

Everyone could judge you, that's what I was scared off. I can only prey that Mirkos little accident is not gonna cause anyone to harm me.

Hawks jumped into the conversation to let Aizawa breathe for a moment. "It's a taboo topic in this country, please don't judge him for not telling you. A coming out gone wrong can be fatal for someone's life." Hawks put on a serious face to defend him. He was unbelievably thankful that Aizawa managed to take away the attention from him, did he do it on purpose? Or did he just see it as an opening to come out too? Anyway, it made him a little happy. Maybe he could try and befriend him more? 

Aizawa went back to his chair and gave his blonde friend a pat on the shoulder. "Yeah, he's right. I think it was just an impulse to do it right now, sorry to shock you." "What if miss Joke knew, she'd leave you alone?" The two friends went to talk with each other and Hawks decided it would be best to let them be. He scooched over to Mirko and Nezu on his chair and shot them a charming smile.

"Soo, what a suprising night? And don't think i'll let you get away with this Bunny bitch." Hawks earned another apologetic smile and Nezu now apologized too saying "Sorry about my reaction, i guess i was just caught off guard." "So you don't have a problem with us now?"

"Of course not, a lot of animals are homosexual too. Especially Bonobos!" The mouse man stands up to put away some files he had on his table. He really doesn't mind about anyones sexuality. Hawks tried to get the conversation going but the sound of his phone ringing got him by suprise, he fished it out of his pocket and immediately a decent blush formed across his face. Why would he call at this hour?

"Guys, if you excuse me for a moment..." The blonde got up and Mirko couldn't hold back a teasing "Oh? Who's that i wonder?"

He shushed her and walked out to take the call before it was too late. As soon as the door closed behind him he pressed the green button and took a deep breath. His stomach dropped the moment he heard his voice again. It was the soft slurring sound of him newly woken up. "Hello Babybird, i see you haven't called the cops on me?"

Hawks body froze and he franctically looked left and right to make sure no one was listening. Then he answered "Just shut up, they're still on the way to you." "Wait, really?" He rolls his eyes at Dabi. "No you idiot." A sleepy chuckle was heard and Hawks mouth basically went dry, he needed to hear more of that but how? "Why did you call me, i could have been sleeping too."

Dabi took a deep breath and rolled over in his bed, again he puts his phone on speaker. "just wanted to get on your nerves while i can."

Why does he sound so...sad?

Hawks bit his tongue to prevent himself from saying something stupid, but it came out anyway. "Where are you, i wanna come over." he asked bravely and got another chuckle as a response. Dabi kept quiet for a moment, as if he was thinking about it. But in the end the answer was as expected. "I won't tell you, plus if you come over Toga might murder you."

"Alright then, meet me at the forest west from the UA school. In an hour." The blonde had no idea where this confidence came from, but it seemed to work. Dabi made an understanding sound "If my little bird says so, I'll come. I doubt you'd wanna meet me at a forest if you were planning on fighting me."

The hero rolls his eyes again. I just need to see you asshole.

Of course he didn't say that out loud, inside he wished he could just use this connection to Dabi to kill him. But everything in him just wanted to touch and kiss him, not hurt him. 

He wanted to... love him.

I just fucking learned that Nezu is a mouse who's quirk lets him be as smart as a Human. Not a person with a mouse quirk. What the hell?
