The front desk people had a fun time mumbling under  their breaths when their eyes landed on all the kids they were being registered to the middle school and high school. The kids didn't know what to feel about school. On the one hand, they enjoyed a bit of their new situation especially when Dustin, Mike, Will and Lucas found out about an A.V. Club (where they get to play on a Ham Radio) to join and Max found it fun that she could skateboard all over campus to get to different buildings. What they didn't like was how people were staring down at them like they were a bunch of zombies instead of a bunch of kids.

They could feel everyone staring at them and whispering amongst themselves while keeping their distance. Though they were used to people not really being friendly towards them, they thought being outside the lab they would find some people that would be nice towards them. By halfway through school, they were praying for the school day to be over with while wondering if their friends at the high school were doing any better.

Nancy, Robin, Eddie, Steve, Jonathan, and Billy weren't expecting special treatment, but they thought they would get at least a simple greeting or at least some students would want to try and figure out if they wanted to be friends. But most of their peers seemed uninterested in them, or worst, a lot of of them looks at them like they were a bunch of the undead entering their school. The six of them were glad lunch came around where they were finally able to huddle around a table with each other and speak.

"This place sucks." Billy was the first one to speak what everyone was thinking.

"I know this place isn't the greatest, but is sure beats the lab." Robin claimed to them.

"Why do we need to be here anyway? I don't understand how anything they are teaching us is preparing us for the real world?" Eddie stated.

"It's so we can figure out how to slowly move back into the real world." Nancy explained to them, "the people we moved in with are risking a lot with helping us as best as they can so we can find a place in this world. It serves that we keep our heads down and try to get through this place as quickly as possible. Okay?"

"Kind of hard to do that when we really don't understand what the hell they're talking about?" Billy pointed out. The rest nodded their heads in agreement with him.

"Well, I'll scan the books and transfer the information into your guys' heads." Nancy suggested, which caused a lot of them to groan.

"No offend, but I rather fail than go through that headache." Steve mumbled.

"Failing isn't an option, Steve. We need this education so we can find a place in town to live at then be able to raise ourselves and the kids as well. Do you all understand?" Nancy explained to them, "because if we don't learn how to blend in, we are risking being easily picked out by those--"

"Shhhh!!!!!" Billy shot at her before motioning with his head to the side. Slowly they began to peer over their heads to find a couple of kids (A boy and two girls) walking over to their table.

"Oh shit! What do we do?" Robin asked, nervously.

"Just be cool, let Billy, Steve or I talk... actually, Billy, don't." Nancy said, knowing how easily uncomfortable Eddie, Robin and Jonathan can get with talking with new people (then remembering how easily aggressive Billy can be). They waited till the two finally came up towards their table.

"Hello, you guys must be the new kids we've heard so much about," one of the girls with dark hair said, grinning brightly to them, "my name's Tina and this is my friend, Carol, and her boyfriend, Tommy."

"Hi, I'm Nancy and these are my friends, Steve, Billy, Robin, Eddie and--" Nancy started to introduce when she was cut off by Carol.

"Jonathan, right? You were the guy I meet up in the park. The one watching all those kids." Carol said.

"Yeah, that was me." Jonathan said with a nervous chuckle.

"Who  were all those children you were watching?" Carol asked him.

"Oh, just my brother and sister, Will and El, then Billy and Eddie's sister, Max, the Sinclair's nephew, Lucas, Robin and Steve's brother, Dustin, and Nancy's brother Mike while they were doing things they needed to quickly do." Jonathan listed off to them.

"And what exactly where you guys doing while he was babysitting if you don't mind me asking?" Carol asked.

"We actually do mind," Billy shot at Carol with a heated glare. Nancy kicked Billy from beneath the table before lightly chuckling.

"You have to forgive Billy; he's not easy to open up to new people. It took him a while to open up to any of us." Nancy explained to them. Billy began to mumble a couple of curses under his breath before Eddie lightly patted Billy's shoulder.

"Hey, big boy, lets go up and see if we can get another bottle of juice." Eddie suggested to him.

"I'm good," Billy shot at Eddie as he took a sip of his milk.

"Hey, is that Max, skateboarding across the parking lot when she should be in school?" Eddie said. Billy's head shot up before he pushed himself out of his seat and began storming towards the exit. Eddie quickly grabbed his jacket and a few things on his tray that he could take with him and rushed behind Billy.

"Again, forgive Billy, he-- he has-- um... issues." Nancy said unable to think up a better word to describe what was up with Billy. She felt bad for calling it 'issues' because Billy had a really good reason to be always on guard and be mean towards outsiders. He was like that even before the they arrived at the lab and it took them awhile for them to finally break through Billy's barriers.

"Yeah, he's kind of beastly." Tommy joked, laughing while he wrapped his arm around Carol's shoulder.

"You have no idea." Steve mumbled (which earned him a kick from not only Nancy but Robin as well).

"Well--" Tina spoke, drawing their attention, "I'm having a Halloween party next week around eight p.m. and thought maybe you guys would like to come and mingle and get to know people. If you would like that is? Billy and Eddie can come as well."

"We'll think about it. Thanks so much." Nancy told them with a nervous grin. They shook their heads before departing from the table, whispering amongst themselves probably wondering if they were making the right choice in inviting them. They all huddled closer towards each other as they began to discuss about it.

"Well?" Steve asked.

"I mean, Tina-- or whatever her name is-- has a point. It would do us good to get some friends other than ourselves. I mean to look less out of place." Robin suggested.

"Robin does have a point, I mean, we do look a lot different after our make over, but they could still figure us out if we don't try and do normal kids things." Steve pointed out.

"So it settle, we should try and go to this party." Jonathan questioned.

"I believe so. We'll tell Eddie and Billy about the party then," Nancy stated. They began to groaned as they were shaking their heads.

"I think we should tell Eddie... but Billy-- I mean-- do you really think it is wise to bring him along. I mean-- you know how easy he gets pissed?" Jonathan mentioned.

"I agree, but it wouldn't be fair to leave him out. I think as long as we make sure he doesn't lose his temper, we'll be okay." Nancy assured them.

"I give it five minutes." Steve mumbled before getting another kick from Nancy.
