*Sinclair's house*

"...and this is your room. We'll give you some time to get adjusted."

Charles and Sue told him as they had finished showing Lucas the house. Lucas's room was bigger than his old room and had sports posters and a few shelves full of books, and a large, comfy bed. Lucas stared in shocked and amazement. He didn't know the words to describe this feeling that was bubbling inside him.

Lucas circled the room a couple of times, unable to grasp that this was truly going to be his own room. It was nothing like his cell at the lab. It was only big enough for him to stand and be able to lay his head down to sleep on one of the most awful, squeaky bed. He remembered how when he was put in his room and messing around, the lights would go off completely to tell him it was time for bed. However, it would be so dark, Lucas would have to belly crawl his way across the ground.

"So--"

Lucas jolted when a voice spoke from behind him. He saw a young girl standing firmly in the doorway, holding a few books in her hands as she held a stern glare in her eyes.

"You're Lucas. The guy who's going to be pretending to be my older cousin? she asked him.

"I guess so... What's your name?" Lucas asked her.

"I'm Erica." she told him.

"What's that in your hand?" Lucas asked her. She glanced over towards him.

"A couple of my D&D manuals."

"What's that?"

"Dungeons and Dragons."

"What's that?" Lucas asked again.

"You don't know what Dungeons and Dragons is? Boy, those scientists really screwed you guys up." Erica said while leading Lucas to his bed before she began to explain the whole world of D&D.

*Wheelers' House*

"Mike's room is just down the hallway and this one is yours." Karen told Nancy as she opened the bedroom door to show Nancy her room. Nancy's eyes widened as her eyes darted around the entire room, taking in every inch about it all.

"What is this?" Nancy asked as she picked up a car manual.

"Oh, well, we thought since you're about sixteen years old, you're about old enough to drive a--" Karen cut herself off as she watched as the Nancy's eyes brighten with a hot pink glow as the manual flipped its pages rapidly to almost a speed Karen couldn't recognize herself before it landed on its backside.

"Wow-- I've never known a machine that has so much complex parts to it." Nancy chuckled. Karen's jaw clenched and unclenched as her eyes darted between the book and Nancy.

"I'm sorry? What just happened?" Karen asked, pointing at the book.

"Oh-- I'm sorry. I sometimes do that without thinking. See, my power is knowledge absorption. I can absorb knowledge from things such as books and completely understand them. I can even pass that knowledge to other people." Nancy explained.

"Wow--" Karen mumbled.

"I don't recommend it." Mike's voice echoed from his room, "very painful!"

"How was I supposed to know that it would give you a headache?" Nancy shot at Mike.

"Just saying!" Mike replied back.

*Mayfield's trailer*

"Sorry there isn't much space, but this is all I could afford with my salary." Susan said while she lead the kids through the trailer, "so Eddie and Billy will be in the room in the back. Max will be in the room right next to mine."

"This is way bigger than our rooms back in the lab," Eddie explained while he and Billy headed towards their room in the back. Susan took noticed that as Billy was following Eddie, he kept glancing back a few times to look at Max. She shrugged it off while she lead Max towards her room.

"Here you are, the bathroom is just down the hall if you need it," Susan told Max. She watched as Max walked around the room, taking in everything that she saw.

"Whoa! You have a skateboard?" Max suddenly asked as she pulled out a skateboard from the corner of the room.

"Oh, yeah. That was my brother's old thing. I can take it to my room if you--" Susan started when Max hugged it.

"Can I keep it?" Max asked with a pleading beam in her eyes.

"Well, sure if you really want it that much. You like skateboarding?" Susan asked her.

"Before we went into the lab, I used to go to the skateboard park all the time in California where we used to live." Max admitted to her.

"You guys are from the Golden Coast? That was where I grew up."

"Really? What brought you to Hawkins?"

"I wanted a change of scenery. So if you're from California, surely you guys have some relatives there?" Susan questioned. Max opened her mouth to speak when her eyes darted to the doorway. She slowly turned to find Billy standing in the doorway, staring at Susan with a glint in his eyes that sent a shiver down her spine.

"No. We don't have any relatives." Billy told Susan before shooting his gaze over to Max, "Come on Max. Why don't you take the skateboard out for a spin?"

"Okay, Billy." Max said before jogging out of the room with the skateboard under her arm. Billy gave Susan one last glare before following behind Max. She waited till Billy's footsteps faded away before walking out of the room.

"A little heads up," Susan turned her head to see Eddie standing in the doorway to his room, "That is how Billy normally behaves."

Susan watched as Eddie turned back and proceeded back into his room, leaving Susan to her thoughts as she was wondering what had she gotten herself into.
