The Mutants (Stranger Things Fanfic)

A/n: This chapter contains graphic imagery, you have been warned. 

"Kids, it's time to go home," Karen called down to the kids in her basement, who were playing a game called DnD. She could hear them begin to groan and plead with her for a couple more minutes. 

"Sorry, guys, but it's a school night. You have to get up earlier." Karen told them. She could hear them come rushing up the stairs as she counted them to make sure everyone was here. There was Erica, Lucas, Dustin, Will, Mike, El, and Eddie. She watched as they began to head out of her house, wishing them 'good-night' and 'see you tomorrow'. before hopping on their bikes and rode off. 

"Okay, after school, we'll meet up at Wheeler's house and continue the journey, hopefully none of you guys die," Eddie told them the game plan before they began to break up till it was no one but Dustin, Will and El. 

"Hey Will, I'll race to the end of the street," Dustin told him. 

"What would you give me?" Will asked him. 

"Whatever you want." Dustin told him. 

"Okay!" Will said before zooming down the street with El clinging around his waist. It didn't take long before they zoomed past the end of the street and turned the corner before proceeding down the road to their house. They were halfway down the gravel road when Will abruptly stopped, causing the two of them to fall of the bike and nearly land head first against the ground. Why? Because Will could have sworn he saw something in the middle of the road. Will's eyes darted around to try and find the creature when his focus shifted towards El, who was trying to get up. 

"I'm sorry, El. I thought-- I thought I saw something," Will told her as he held her up from the ground and dusting her off. 

"It's okay. I'm--" El started when she was cut off by the sound of a high-pitch shrieking echoing in their ears. They didn't wait a moment as El hopped on the back end of the bike and Will pedaled off towards their house. Once they got home, El and Will hopped off the bike and rushed inside. They burst through the front door before slamming it behind them and locking it up. They hurried over into the kitchen where they noticed the lights began to flicker like crazy. 

"Over here!" Will screamed as they rushed out the back door and over to the shed. They entered before throwing everything in front of it. Will and El rushed over to the back where Will grabbed hold of the gun and loaded it like Hopper had showed him to. Will pointed it at the door as El held out her hand in front of her. They waited for any sign of whatever it was that was hunting them down. They stood there, frozen in their stance. The light overhead began to flicker. Their eyes darted upwards at the light, wondering what what happening... when Will was being pulled up in the air. El and Will screamed. El turned to see what it was and found the upper half of a horrible looking monster, sticking out from what looked like a crack in the shed. It held Will, who had dropped the gun, up in the air by the back of his jacket. El rushed over and grabbed Will's legs and began tugging at him while the beast was trying to pull Will in with it. It shrieked an awful shrilling sound that caused El's ears to ring. 

Suddenly El and Will went flying in the other direction, crashing onto the ground. They huddled around each other as they watched the creature vanished into the wall. They thought it might have been over until their attention was drawn to a banging against the door of the shed. El and Will burst into a crying mess, screaming for whatever it was to go away. They watched in horror as the front door was flung off and the beast threw the stuff they had set in front of the door to the side. They thought this was the end... this was how they died... then...

"WILL! EL!" 

Jonathan's voice echoed into their ears. Their weeping stopped as they watched Jonathan rush past the creature and over to them where he pulled them into their grasp. The creature began to shrink down till it was revealed to them it was merely Billy. 

"What happen? What's going on?" Jonathan proceeded to question them... but they were too frightened to speak.
