Once Dr. Owen saw the last of the kids making their way out of the room, he turned his attention directly on Billy.

"Now that we are by ourselves, I feel you might be more open to express yourself." Dr. Owen told him. Billy shrugged his shoulders again.

"I would like to see how you think you're going to squeeze me for even a memory about that bitch." Billy stated to him.

Dr. Owen nodded his head, understanding Billy had shoved down his emotions then built stone walls around them with barbed wire on top to ensure not a single one could make it back to the surface. Most likely due to him coming to the conclusion he was going to have to be the guardian of Max when his Mom left and knew Neil wasn't going to do be their father figure. Now Dr. Owen needed to find a way to crack through this shell and help Billy cope with his past.

"May I suggest something," Dr. Owen started, "I would like to try hypnosis. Do you know what that is?"

"Isn't that where you wave a watch in front of someone's face to put them to sleep?" Billy mumbled. Dr. Owen chuckled as he got up from his seat.

"Some people use a watch."Dr. Owen stated while he walked over to his bookshelves, "I however used this."

He pulled out a metronome then proceed back to his seat. He placed it on the table and began preparing it.

"This is a metronome. It is used for musicians to play rhythms more accurately; however, I have found this can help focus the mind. Now if you would humor me, I would like you to close your eyes," Dr. Owen asked him.

Billy gave a quick roll of his eyes before doing as Dr. Owen asked him. Dr. Owen started the metronome. After a few ticks, Dr. Owen cleared his throat.

"Now, Billy. I want you to relax and focus on the ticking of the metronome... let the world around you fade... breathe in... and out..." Dr. Owen said in a calm manner. He slowly watched as Billy's body started to relax; his shoulders dropped and his head tilted forward.

"I want to speak with your younger self. I want to speak with the little boy... who lost his Mother... who holds such pent-up anger against her... for what she did." Dr. Owen spoke up. For a moment, Billy didn't say anything.... then he watched as Billy let out a heavy gasp. His lips violently trembled and he began sniffling like he had been hurt.

"Are you Young Billy?" Dr. Owen asked.

"Yes..." Billy spoke, timid and quiet like a small child.

"I want to know what did your Mother do that upset you so much." Dr. Owen ordered.

"S-she abandoned us... she left us... with him..." Billy whimpered.

"How did you know she left whereas Max didn't?"

"She didn't come... Neil was in one of his bad moods again... but she wasn't there to stop him... I called her..."

"You called her?"

"I begged her... pleaded with her when was she coming home... she said she was busy at work... but... but I could hear the music in the background... and people laughing..."

Billy began to cry; tears streaming down his face.

"That must have made you angry." Dr. Owen said, shaking his head.

"No."

Dr. Owen's eyes widened.

"No? I-It didn't make you mad?" Dr. Owen asked confused.

"It hurt... it hurt real bad..." Billy mumbled.

"I don't understand, Young Billy? If you were only the sad and hurt feelings of Billy... where did this anger towards her come from?" Dr. Owen asked.

Billy didn't respond. His body stiffened; his demeanor changed dramatically. His lips stop trembling and his tears seemed to paused like someone had pressed the pause button on him. Slowly, his head lifted until it was facing directly at Dr. Owen. Dr. Owen peered down to see Billy's fingers were now digging into the edge of the armrest.

"Young Billy?" Dr. Owen called out.

"You're talking with the wrong Billy." Billy spoke. His tone was scratchy and more like a growl than speech. A chill ran up Dr. Owen's spine as his heart began to race. He could sense there was something not right about this side of Billy he was talking with.

"Who are you?" Dr. Owen asked him, trying to hide the fear that began developing inside himself. Billy didn't speak immediately. His breathing became rough and deep.

"I'm the one that got us out of that fucking hellhole." Billy hissed at him. An idea clicked inside Dr. Owen as he had an idea of who he was talking to.

"Are you... are you Billy's Monster?" Dr. Owen questioned.

"Is that what you're going to call me? After everything I've done for Billy and Max?"

"Do you have a name?"

"I bare no name."

"Where did you come from?"

"I came from the deep blackness that burns in the back of Billy's mind."

"When did you appear?"

"When the kids needed me most."

"When their Mother left?"

"That bitch failed to be there for them. So I had to step in and protect them from Neil when she turned her back on them." Billy growled; his nails cutting into the fabric of the chair.

"Are you... are you the source of Billy's anger?" Dr. Owen asked, though he was pretty sure of the answer that awaited him. Billy didn't speak, but his silence was all the confirmation he needed.

"How do you feel with their Mother's return?" Dr. Owen asked him.

"I think that fucking whore needs to pack up her shit and leave... and I'll make her understand if I must." Billy threatened.

"I understand you resent and possibly hate their Mother, but perhaps it is in their best interest to at least have some closure with their relationship with them. To forgive her so that all these negative emotions can be let go and they can move on with their lives," Dr. Owen suggested to him.

Then in a blur, Dr. Owen barely had time to avoid the table as Billy kicked it in Dr. Owen's direction. He tumbled to the floor, his body slamming hard against the cold marble floors as he felt pain coursing across his skin.

"NEVER! NEVER!" Billy screamed at the top of his lungs; spit flinging from his lips. His body began morphing into his monster side, "THAT BITCH DUG HER GRAVE! AND I'LL SEE TO IT SHE'S BURIED IN IT! EVEN IF I HAVE TO GUT HER LIKE THE FLITHY PIG SHE IS!"

"BILLY, WAKE UP! COME BACK! BILLY!" Dr. Owens demanded.

Suddenly, Billy gasped. His eyes flung open while his body began returning back to normal.  He panted as cold sweat dripped down his forehead. His eyes roamed across the room to see the overturned table and the broken metronome that was shattered across the floor.

"What the hell happened here?" Billy asked as Dr. Owen climbed to his feet.

"I tapped into something that did not want any of my help," Dr. Owen mumbled while he rubbed his forehead with the back of his sleeve, "Billy, why don't you head to the training session? I'm sure the others will be worried about you."

Billy didn't utter a word and proceeded out of the room, leaving a frightened Dr. Owen behind.
