OBELIA'S ROSE, CHAPTER FORTY, BY VIICERENE

A FEW HOURS LATER, Ijekiel and Jennette welcomed me in the new room I'm supposed to be staying in. "I've limited the servants coming in as much I can."

"And they will be coming in the designated times." He said. Aaah!! Finally! Ever since I've left the palace, I have been moving around in motels! But then he looked at me.. a little pitifully. "I wanted to give you a bigger and nicer room.."

"No! I will finally be able to stay here a little more comfortably. Thank you, Ijekiel." I smiled. But I wasn't able to do anything for Jennette.

Ijekiel was able to fix anything with this and that. "Right, Jennette." He looked behind him. "Why were you looking for me?" He asked. Jennette nervously looked at him and I, biting her fingernails. "Don't bite them!!"

"A-ah... It was about my outing today." She mumbled. I then went to my bed, sitting down. I'm not tired, but I don't wanna hear anything about it.

"Ah, is it important? I'll be resting, so you both can go outside and talk." Ijekiel then put his hand to his heart. He seems really embarassed. "Then, we will excuse ourselves. I'll come back again later." He said.

"No, it's fine. I am very grateful for what you've done so far already." I said, waving as to signal to that it is fine.

After they left, I couldn't help but think. Another shocking event distracted me from what I was originally shocked about. I must've thought of daddy more than I thought I did. It's kind of lonely... and I can't do anything about it.

Jennette really is loveable. I worked this hard, but it always seems that this world has been made for Jennette and Jennette only.

Will it return to how it would've been, with Jennette as the first princess? But unlike Athanasia, I am able to use magic. And ever since I've left, everything has went into shambles. There's no way I'll be executed after being framed.

Right, my only goal when I came into this world was survival. I also left the palace like I wished, but there is no Athanasia sitting with me.

Let's think of it as everything I wished for when I was younger is coming true.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Princess? May I come in?" Ijekiel's voice once again. I turned to the door, slowly pulling a book from the shelf. "Yes,"

He opened the door, "Good Morning, Princess." He greeted. Waving, I noticed that he held a lot of books in his arms. "Good Morning to you too, Ijekiel." He thrust the books into my arms,  smiling happily.

"I brought a few more books since the ones that I've recommended were greatly appreciated by Her Highness." He said.

I nodded, "Ah, thank you!"I said, pointing to the chairs beside us. "Why not we sit for a moment?" I offered, sitting on the comfy chairs. After I stayed in the Alpheus Estate, Ijekiel or Jennette would come by to talk to me.

"What's Jennette doing?" I asked. He froze, "Ah... she's planning to go out today." I said. Ahh, she's going to see daddy.

She'll take my place as the 'Her Highness, Princess Jennette de Alger Obelia.' To come to think about it, he's been calling her so many times lately. "I see." I brought the teacup up. We don't really talk about Jennette's outings that much nowadays.

"Uh, Princess, may I ask you something?" I nodded. "How were you able to hide from the people?"

Oh, "I used magic to hide." I said. Ever since I could start using magic, I was able to buy anything I want. "There's a magic that allows me to take on the appearance of an ordinary person. It's pretty draining if you keep using it,

and sensitive people may notice if you're a beginner in magic. "Hm, so going out isn't so difficult."

"Would you like to wake a walk with me in the garden?"

---

"Do you know this place, Princess?" Ijekiel asked me. Nodding, of course I remember. But why here, suddenly? It's Athanasia's most dreaded place, since she ended up riding Ijekiel once.

"I was really suprised since Her Highness Athanasia suddenly fell from the sky."

He turned to me, a large grin plastered on his face. "I thought your mood might dip of you stayed indoors all thr time, so i thought we could go for a walk." He said. Ah, he's being considerate!

Yaya! My sister really got a good taste in boys, she better marry this man. I need a good brother-in-law and a good king sitting on the throne.

"You're right," I said, looking into the distance. From here, I could see the bustling city and hear music.

Oh, Athanasia. Please come back here with me.

---JENNETTE'S POV

Haaa, me and Princess talked deep into the night. But... But...

Sighing, Viscount Patterson's attention was directed to me. "Is there something bothering you?" He questioned.

"You kept sighing, so..." Tilting my head, oh my gosh, I did? "I'm sorry."

"I might be overstepping ny bounds, but if its fine with you, I'd like to listen to your concerns. I clenched my hands, not ready to say this.

But Viscount Patterson is a very nice man, I'm sure he will keep this a secret." The truth is," I paused. Just a while ago I could've thought the world was in my hands.

But now, it seems I've grown distant from both the Princesses. "This isn't about me," I mumbled, tears trickling down. "But about my friends."

I thought everything would turn out great if I met His Majesty and the Princesses,

but now I'm occupied with other concerns. "She was kicked out of her Houde after fighting with His Majesty, but I'm now just one letter away to her father."

"It's just a guess, but.." I wiggled in my seat, trying to think about how to pull everything off with my new family, His Majesty, Princess Athanasia, and Princess (Y/n).

"I presume you're talking about Their Highnesses and His Majesty, correct?" He asked, and I nodded. "If you tell me the truth, I will help you to the most of my ability."

I was sweating at this point, even shaking. Umm,

"You see, I'm actually a Princess in hiding, and I'm in contact with Princess (Y/n) who fled from the palace. She doesn't know I'm her sister."

"I've gotten much closer to the Emperor lately, but I haven't been able to get a proper conversation with him, and I'm not getting closer to Princess Athanasia." I explained the whole situation.

I slouched onto the sofa, "So I'm feeling quite distressed, Viscount Patterson."

"I thought that I could help mediate between His Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses as well."

I'm feeling uncomfortable, "The Princess told me I'm like a sister to her!" I tried enthusiastically saying.

"I feel she can only say that because she doesn't know you're her real sister." He explained, reaching out for my hand and clasping it into his larger ones.

"Isn't Princess Athanasia the first and Princess (Y/n) the second heir to the Obelian Throne?" I asked. He shook his head, smirking..

"Whether you like it or not, My Lady, Your Existence would shake the stability of her position. Dukes who are not direct heirs of the royal family can inherit too. Same goes with duchesses, and people apart of the minor branches of the royal family."

My eyes widened. No way I could do that to Princess (Y/n)!" That's not true! " I quickly responded.
