Jeno's POV:
Chopping wood for a fire, Jaemin sat in the grass with Jiwoo as he was trying to get him to say 'mama.'
"Jiwoo" Jaemin cooed as he was helping Jiwoo stand, "Can you say mama?" He cooed.
Jiwoo giggled while staring at him as he babbled, "dada" as Jaemin sighed, making me chuckle slightly as I threw wood in the fire.
"No Jiwoo. Say mama" Jaemin asked him again.
"Dada" Jiwoo whispered as Jiwoo looked up at me making Jaemin just roll his eyes playfully.
"Who carried you for nine months and birthed you with no pain meds" Jaemin mumbled, "Mom. But who do you prefer and look more like, dad."
I went to say something, but I was cut off as I dropped my axe, heading straight towards Jaemin.
"Get Jiwoo now" I whispered as Jaemin didn't question me as he picked up Jiwoo before standing up himself.
Jiwoo was babbling nonsense as Jaemin shushed him quietly as my ears were perked up, picking up the sounds of other peoples voices. I could smell their scent as I knew they weren't hybrids as my eyes went dark.
Picking up the axe again, I ushered Jaemin and Jiwoo into the house before handing Jaemin the axe, which he took reluctantly.
"Stay here" I whispered, "I'm going to distract them and lead them away from our territory."
Jaemin's eyes were wide as I could smell the fear radiating off of him."If you need to" I whispered again, "Run far away. I'll find you."
Jaemin nodded as he whispered, "Be safe" before I kissed both his and Jiwoo's forehead before I rushed out the door to lure the humans away.
Jaemin's POV:
Sitting against the wall of the house, the axe laying next to me and Jiwoo in my arms, I listened intently to each noise I heard outside. Jiwoo was falling asleep in my arms as I took deep breaths, hoping my fear wouldn't wake him up.
I couldn't stop thinking about Jeno and his safety as I wouldn't know what to do without him. Closing my eyes, I listened hard as I froze. From behind the house I could make out the voices of a few humans as I froze.
I held my breath as my ears perked up, picking up their feet crunching on the leaves and sticks as they moved closer to the house. Their laughter and snarky comments filled my ears as my grip became tighter on Jiwoo.
Their scent grew closer and closer to the house until I froze, realizing they could probably see our house. Holding Jiwoo close to me, I stood up, reached for the door, opened it, and ran for my life.
I could hear their gasps and footsteps as they spotted me, but I did not look back. I ran straight towards the lake as I had a plan in mind. Making my way towards the lake, I ran into the cold water as Jiwoo woke up, his whimpers filling my ears as I did my best to shush him.
Drenching our clothes and hair with water, I tried masking our scent so the humans would not be able to smell us. Even though they are not hybrids, we do have the scent of somewhat a dog to them that is very faint.
