Seungcheol winced, hearing his daughter's soft whines as he fluttered his eyes opening, the sun making him cower as he rubbed his eyes. Throwing the covers off himself, he made his way out of bed, down the hall to their daughter's room, saying hello to the guards before heading on in.

Yerim was already standing up, crying for her mother as she made grabby hands at Seungcheol, her cheeks red and her eyes teary. Yerim, who is almost a year old, is finally teething, and the past few weeks have been a pain; and it hasn't been easier with how busy Mingyu had been lately.

Mingyu has been busy with business, stuff he doesn't want Seungcheol to really know about or affiliate with. It's not that Mingyu doesn't want Seungcheol to know, it's just that he doesn't want Seungcheol to worry or fear the unknown.

Seungcheol sighed, wondering if Mingyu was home, hoping that Yerim seeing her father would calm her down. Yerim was still softly crying, clearly not happy with the pain her baby teeth were causing her. Seungcheol gave her the teething toy, watching her chew on it as her small whines turned into sniffles.

Walking down the hall, Seungcheol stood outside of Mingyu's office, knocking softly before he went on in. Mingyu sat at his desk, papers sprawled out, his glasses on, cup of coffee in hand before he looked up, smelling his mates scent.

Yerim dropped her toy, mouthing a small "dada" as she made grabby hands towards him.

Mingyu sat down his cup, pushing back his chair as he got up, taking Yerim from Seungcheol as he kissed her cheek.

"Is my princess awake" Mingyu cooed, but frowned when he noticed her red teary eyes.

"Her teeth still hurt" Seungcheol whispered, making Mingyu pout as he opened Yerim's mouth, taking a small look at her teeth and gums, which Yerim did not like.

She yanked her head away from him, a soft cry leaving her mouth as Mingyu frowned, "My princess I'm sorry" he cooed, swaying side to side as Yerim began to calm down, her fathers pheromones seeming to soothe her.

"Her birthday is coming up you know" Seungcheol whispered, a small smile plastered on his face, "Hopefully she won't be hurting by then."

"I can't believe she's almost one" Mingyu whispered, rubbing his thumb gently under her eyes, wiping away a few stray tears she had.

"It felt like she was just born yesterday" Mingyu cooed, reminiscing back on the day she was born, surprising them by arriving three weeks early.

"Don't forget her birthday party is next Sunday, your family and my family will be here to celebrate" Seungcheol reminded him, making Mingyu nod his head until his eyes shot open.

Cursing under his breath, Mingyu had the sudden realization that he scheduled a meeting with his one of business partners the day of Yerim's birthday party. Seungcheol looked at him, cocking his head to the side and Mingyu took Seungcheol's hand into his own.

"About that...I have a meeting that day" Mingyu told him, his voice trailing off as Seungcheol snatched his hand away, clearly pissed as he took a deep breath, not wanting to argue or get mad around their daughter; but damn was it hard.

"Are you serious right now?" Seungcheol spat, moving away from him as Mingyu stuttered, trying to find the right words.

"I'm so sorry baby, I totally forgot about her party" Mingyu cooed, trying to soften his voice, but not even that tone could make Seungcheol feel better.

"Damnit Mingyu" Seungcheol spat, covering Yerim's ears when he cursed, "We've been talking about this for the past two months."

"I know we have, I'm so sorry I forgot, it slipped from my mind I swear" he whispered, watching Seungcheol sigh as he shook his head.

"Sometimes it feels like me and Yerim are an after thought. How could you forget your daughter's first birthday party?" Seungcheol whispered, taking Yerim from him as he began moving towards the door.

"Baby you know that's not true" Mingyu choked out, feeling guilty.

How could he forget his baby girls birthday party? Was he really that forgetful? Was he that bad of father?

"Just go to the meeting, it's fine. I know you need to be there, it's not worth the argument" Seungcheol told him, watching how Yerim was beginning to fall asleep.

"Seungcheol..." Mingyu whispered, but Seungcheol stopped him, holding up his hand as he spoke.

"We will talk once you figure something out. I need some time alone okay? I don't wanna lash out on you when I'm upset" Seungcheol told him, walking away from him as Mingyu stood alone, his mind racing and his heart breaking.

It wasn't until 8pm since Seungcheol saw Mingyu again. Seungcheol stood by Yerim's crib, rocking her as her eyes were slowly fluttering, her lips in a small pout as she was drifting in and out of sleep. Seungcheol flinched, hearing the door open to her nursery, but he relaxed when he smelled Mingyu's scent.

He felt Mingyu wrap his arms around his waist, laying his head on Seungcheol's shoulder as he took a small peak at their daughter, watching her doze off as he couldn't help but smile.

"I'm sorry daddy forgot about your birthday party my princess" he whispered, rubbing his finger on her cheek as Yerim let out a small noise, feeling her daddy disturb her sleep.

"I'm sorry my love" he cooed, his voice ringing in Seungcheol's ear as Seungcheol continued rocking Yerim, watching her nose twitch as she could smell her father.

"Did you figure something out?" Seungcheol asked, softly laying Yerim in her crib.

"Yes" Mingyu whispered, turning Seungcheol around to look at him.

Cupping his cheeks, Mingyu leaned his forehead against Seungcheol's, "I scheduled it for next Friday instead" Mingyu whispered, watching a small smile form on Seungcheol's face.

However, Seungcheol stayed silent, still anxious that he would say something he would regret, still upset at how Mingyu could forget something so important.

"I'm sorry for being a bad father lately. I'll be better for you and Yerim, I promise" Mingyu whispered, his voice holding guilt, regret, and sadness as Seungcheol winced at his words, his heart hurting at how Mingyu was beating himself up.

Yes, he wanted Mingyu to feel bad, but he never wanted him to feel like a bad father or a bad husband, because he was neither of those. He was just forgetful when it came to things like this.

"Don't say that ever again" Seungcheol told him, smacking his chest before pulling him down for a kiss.

"You're not a bad father, so don't you ever think that. Do you understand?" Seungcheol spat, making Mingyu nod his head immediately, not one to argue with his lover, because he wouldn't win.

"You're not a bad father Mingyu, you're just forgetful because you focus so hard on providing for us and keeping us safe. I'm not mad anymore okay? So please don't worry" Seungcheol whispered, making sure Mingyu was looking him in the eyes, wanting to assure him the best he could.

"Besides, I forgave you the second I saw you working so hard to resolve the issue" Seungcheol whispered.

Mingyu took a sigh of relief, feeling better already as he held Seungcheol close to his chest, kissing the top of his head as Seungcheol pulled away. Taking Mingyu's hand, Seungcheol guided them out of Yerim's room, slowly closing the door as the guards guarded her room.

"Now...take a shower with me and I'll feel better" Seungcheol told him, walking away from Mingyu as Mingyu felt the heat rise to his face, hearing the guards laugh under their breath at their bosses shyness.

But Mingyu didn't care what they thought as he followed his lover to the bathroom, making sure he was 100% forgiven that night.
