When you lose hope in a dream, sometimes all you're left with are sleepless nights. While some call the doctor for a refill, I find the best solution is a full social calendar.

VICTORIA HATED THE smell of hospitals, she hated the interior, even the exterior. So, yeah, she hated hospitals. They either brought disappointing news or good news. Sometimes, the bad outweighed the good. You'd be lucky for good to outweigh the bad. Hospitals seemingly made you feel small, as they always tended to hold the big news. The ultimate truth. Sometimes in which can determine the next years of your life. How could a place do that? How could it hold so much power?
Of course, Victoria was allowing for it to get to her. Her hatred for hospitals stemmed her anxiety and ignited her nerves, to which felt prickling across her skin. She hated it. Gosh. She grimaced as she sat upon the hospital bed, her hands within her lap as she fiddled with her rings upon her fingers. Usually, she'd fiddle with her necklace that Nate gave her, but she didn't have the heart to fiddle with the gift that her boyfriend, unknowing to her predicament, had gotten her for their anniversary.
The silence, which had been deafening was disrupted, her loneliness had ceased and she greeted by a dark-skinned woman, a kind smile upon her full lips and this friendly light that shined within her eyes. She gave Victoria an ease within that moment of her arrival, had an aura of kindness that the Humphrey needed. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Humphrey. Apologizes for the wait." Victoria was too nervous to speak as Dr. Carrington, who she knew she was meeting, sat on the stool beside her. "If you just lay down on the bed for me. Lift up your shirt."
Victoria didn't realise how nervous she was, her shoulders gently shook as she laid down on the propped bed, her thinned hands pulled up her sweater to reveal her stomach with a shake. The brunette sighed heavily as Dr. Carrington moved upon the stool to grab the prob and the jelly to be able to perform an ultrasound. "Miss Humphrey. . ." Victoria hummed in response. "You're eighteen, correct?"
"Yeah." Victoria nodded. "Yes, Dr. Carrington."
"That means college is right around the corner." Dr. Carrington sprung from the chair, she had put on blue surgery gloves and was ready to perform the ultrasound. "Where have you been accepted?"
Victoria stopped nibbling at her bottom lip. "Oh, Columbia."
"Ooh. An Ivy League." Dr. Carrington was quite impressed with the brunette as she hovered the bottle of jelly over the teen's stomach. "This is going to be a little cold." She warned before a splotch of the substance fell onto Victoria's stomach. It was still flat, hardly a bump noticeable, but there was a difference in the feeling. The skin was harder, like a protective shell, which Dr. Carrington gently rubbed the jelly into. Victoria had flinched at the coldness but it had begun to be something she had gotten used to.
