Every war has its weapons. But on the Upper East Side, the rules of battle are simple: There are no rules.

HUMPHREYS ALWAYS MADE birthdays a big deal, especially when it came to those who they loved, Nate had seen it with his own eyes. On October twentieth, he saw how extreme it came to celebrating Victoria and Dan's birthday. There was public humiliation in the restaurant that they resided in for the celebrations, and even with a little get together amongst their friends and family, Rufus had made sure to go all out. It was clear to see that the stars of the show were the twins, still spending their birthdays together even as they got older. Was it odd for him to think, given the depths of his and Victoria's relationship, that he would be joined into the Humphreys overly extreme antics that circulated around birthday celebrations? He thought, no. He thought it was fair enough for him to think such a thing, especially with where his life stood at that given moment in time.

Nate had his own little family. He had a daughter. He had a girlfriend, who he was so sure he was going to marry someday. He attended Columbia, and he had friends good enough to be in his life. The Archibald tried not to have his mind sway to the thought of his father behind prison bars, but at least the elder Archibald was alive, and that there was an opportunity to see him when he wanted to.

The boy yet hoped that Victoria felt the same, even in the depths of her slumber. He had woken up before her, purely from the excitement that bubbled in the pit of his stomach, awaiting for the day ahead of thought celebrations. Nate had crept out of bed, his teeth brushed and Emery pulled out of her cot that resided in his old room for just the time being, as The Empire remained in the possession of Jack Bass.

Emery faintly looked like him, and he remained tight lipped about his thought. She laid on his stomach, her piercing blue eyes, mimicking his own, staring at him inquisitively. It was based off of the feeling of who he was, and how he was always there that she knew he was her father. Her lips were small, similar to both Nate and Victoria's, but her nose, it was a little firm just like Nate's, but there was an element of cuteness that did simply remind Nate of the woman sleeping beside him.

The baby girl could prop herself upon her elbows, they dug deep into Nate's stomach, but it wasn't enough to cause him an ache. Emery wriggled around and Nate's arms were there to catch her just incase of any accidents that would lead her to sliding off of his stomach. Emery's hair was growing, very very slowly, it was a light brown, swirling around on her head to mimic curls that neither Nate or Victoria owned. But when Nate was a young boy, he had curls bouncing on his head as he'd run around his grandfather's country house.
