reversals of fortune

Welcome back, Upper East siders. After a long, hot summer away, I see it didn't take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. My inbox is overflowing, so let's get to the good stuff, shall we? Spotted: Chuck Bass up to his old tricks. Poor B. I guess nothing good lasts forever. As for a certain leggy blond by a Hamptons pool looks like Serena left big shoes to fill and someone find them the perfect fit. Here's a good question. Where is Victoria Humphrey? She's been off my radar all summer and there are lot of questions as to where her summer has been spent.

VICTORIA DIDN'T GET to appreciate summer in New York City of the year 2009. She didn't get to experience the summer heat, the shift in the autumn leaves to a vibrant green that complimented the crystal blue sky. It hadn't been her muse for the summer. It was strange, having it shift from the bustle in the city, to this quietly quaint town that allowed for her to find peace, to find this attractiveness in the beauty of a slow paced part on earth. She was sure it was going to drive her insane, but instead. . .she grew to the love that peace. No Gossip Girl, a rare honking of the horn for the driver in front to speed up, but it gave this element of loneliness as it was her first summer apart from her siblings.

Well, Riven was good company. . .eventually. Though there had been a hesitance with the aid he donated her, Riven Huntington made sure it was clear he had nothing but pure intentions. He did grovel for sometime, over the Gossip Girl blast he had sent in during her visit to Yale, which ended up with them both naked and tiresome from a sensational night filled with moans and heavy grunting. They moved on from that. The sexual tension that was once built up around them? Well, it faded, too. It didn't exist apart from this platonic friendship, as it was only each other's interest to protect them both from the world outside of the walls of the Oxford Mansion.

Oh, the Huntington's had named that home residing in England. Highwood Mansion. Riven's father defended the name, he felt as though, given the price he spent on their mansion, it deserved a name. Understandable. Highwood Mansion had become Victoria's home for the summer, she loved the cosiness, the warmth amplified by the summer's heat in England. At one point she didn't want to think of returning back to New York, it was wrong of her to think that.

Sometimes, she pinched herself when she did. Victoria had a brief moment, a second or two, where she forgot about the growing bump forming in her stomach. It had been three months since graduation. She was no five months pregnant, carrying a nearly full grown human being inside of her. It scared her, on occasion, she'd pinch herself even harder to convince herself it wasn't a dream. That with her child growing inside of her, she needed to go back to New York. It had been too long since she ran away from her problems and the belief she was protecting Nate's future.
