ODDNESS CARRIED ITSELF between Victoria and Nate, and neither could begin to pin down what was the fault of it. Well, Victoria had a tiny inkling. Whenever she visited the hospital for an ultrasound, she always appeared on her lonesome, the comfort of a being next to her had never occurred. Not until this moment. The smell of disinfect was pungent in her nose, sterilising surfaces in the maternity waiting room, clinging to the purple painted walls that had posters pinned to the wall in the hope of soothing the anxiety of pregnant women or soon to be mothers. It didn't ease Victoria though, for how long she waited her hazel orbs read each poster, sometimes the letters jumbled so she'd sigh and give up. But this time, she was gifted by the presence of Nathaniel Archibald, a tanned boy, whose knee continuously bounced as time passed them by.

Victoria was at ease with Nate's presence, but at the same time, there was an itch in her brain, being bothered by his knee's continuous shake. Nate had never been to an ultrasound before, and he simply didn't understand it which made it all the more nerve-racking. He nibbled at his bottom lip, his eyes on the screen of his cell as he looked at campaign updates that came from the office. Tripp Vanderbilt was running for the Congress seat that had just opened up unexpectedly. It led to the Vanderbilts working with haste, and the desire to get the chair for the man, who was to be the youngest to ever receive it.

Nate wanted to chat away to Victoria, but he swore his throat was dry from the nerves eating him up from the inside. He didn't know how to handle it, and the best thing he could do was let his knee bounce as they waited in anticipation. Each glance he made to Victoria she was doing something else. It was either she was looking at the posters on the wall ( which gave him deep irritation ), or she was browsing through the newspapers and magazine in the centre of the table that sat beside.

The front page was blasted with the news of the dead Congressman, and the free seat that Tripp Vanderbilt was shockingly running for, but amongst the thought of the possibility of Tripp winning that Congress seat, there was a sense of frustration and resentment towards the Buckleys. Their words were just as big than the announcement of Tripp Vanderbilt running for Congressman. Instead of having a dispute, personally, with the Vanderbilts, the Buckleys were taking their abuse through the media, posting stories that were not true and tainting the image of the Vanderbilts.

Victoria yet groaned, her eyes rolled in the midst of her fury causing for Nate's ocean eyes to flicker up at her, his brows furrowing before she held up the page she had read. Yet another article degrading the Vanderbilt family. "You're kidding me?" He was in disbelief, and struck with an ounce of hurt because of the Buckley he was just dating.

"Please tell me everyone at the campaign office is making sure Tripp gets the Congress seat." Victoria's practically pleaded as her hope spewed towards the Archibald, who had been least expecting for her interest in the political campaign.
